How to replace the Purge Valve on a 2011 Yukon Denali 6.2L engine. No tools but a screwdriver and that is optional.
This was don in "reverse" order showing me putting it back together. But I feel this is a great way to see how things actually disconnect and will help you if you want to do it on your own.
Cost of optional vacuum tester was $30 at Autozone. Cost of Dorman Purge Valve was $40 at Autozone. Total Cost less than $70. Yay.
Gave me a chance to work on my editing also. Hope it helps!

SOLID! I used to have a bit of a mild rough idle and after replacing mine in addition to resolving the P0096 DTC, it is idling smoother now which was a pleasant surprise. 2009, 183k miles on mine,

Awesome video! Probably one of the best I’ve seen. Great editing and pin point detailing to know where and how to replace the part. Thanks again for posting this as it’s going to save me the $400 quote a shop gave me to have this replaced. Just made my week! Thanks!

I have been back and forth to the shop due to my engine light that's on and I smell gas from beneath my vehicle and they took care of the problem by replacing fuel pump but I had to come back because the engine light came back on again and they replaced the charcoal canister and vent valve and yet my engine light came back on again and still on, but I noticed that my Purge Solenoid Valve was neve replaced and that's my last option to why my engine light keep popping on and test reading stills says Evap emissions

Question. My car is not taking fuel. Every 8 cents or so it kicks off. I have changed the charcoal canister, the vent and solenoid, and same thing. I wonder if this would fix it? Side note, there is no engine code or light. Weird situation. Any advice?
@probowie
@probowie 2 жыл бұрын
Fuel not going into tank means air can't get out. The Purge valve controls vapors from canister when vehicle is running. I don't believe changing this would help... especially since you don't have a code. If you've replaced the canister, then most likely there are clogged lines coming from or going to the canister. Hope this helps.

Did you do a smoke test to find the leak on the purge unit?
@probowie
@probowie 5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t. Actually i knew it was a common problem and took apart and tested. Ordered the part and tested the new part before replacing. Apparently it is possible to get bad valves so you chase your tail not realizing the new one was bad too.

Will the check engine light go off automatically? Or do you have to reset it and drive the vehicle for a while to see if it will come back on?
@probowie
@probowie 6 ай бұрын
You can do a few (not sure exactly) driving cycles... (cold to warmed up, cold to warmed up, etc.) and if the problem is fixed, the light should reset. Otherwise you can go to almost any parts store and they will reset your code for free.

@probowie
@probowie 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know exactly. According to Wikipedia: They are both 3rd Generation Yukons but I believe your series has the 5.3L engine. Part numbers may be different and location may be different, but concept and part function should be the same.... Good luck.

I change the purge valve already on my 2013 yukon but my check engine light is still on do I have to clear it with a scanner or will it clear by itself?
@probowie
@probowie 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% positive, but if that was the reason for the code then it should clear on it's own after 3 cycles of running, heating up to operating temp, then cooling down. Advance Auto or Autozone can clear the code for you.

@probowie
@probowie 5 жыл бұрын
I don't remember a misfire, but it seemed to idle fast at times. I believe when things like this happen it can throw the computer into a "default" or "limp" mode which effects normal engine operation.

@@BBronxgirlzz You don't "have" to take that clip but makes more room and might keep it from being damanged getting into the Purge Valve. Your choice... Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Guys I have a 2007 Yukon denali 5.3 it keep shutting off on me it won't start right way but it will start after sitting for a while do you think this could be my problem just asking it just shuts off no codes please help
@probowie
@probowie 4 жыл бұрын
I don't believe the purge valve is the problem. The purpose of the valve is to safely capture fumes from the tank. Typically it only effects starting right after filling up the gas tank. A faulty valve (one that doesn't shut off) allows gas fumes caused by the pressure of filling up the tank to enter the intake and effectively "flooding" the engine making it hard to start. Once the vehicle is running, the purge valve is open and even if it shuts, will not cause the engine to stall. Engines need 3 things to work: Air, Fuel, Fire. If your engine is stalling, one of those is missing. Without any codes it sounds like it is running out of fuel, so my first guess is a fuel pump. Good luck.
