More than likely, it took you longer, because of the large steel pliers was keeping it cool. Other than that, good video, Man!

eBay sells the rear defrost tabs. And I just purchased a soldering iron kit. I'm just curious as why nobody on these videos are not using soldering "Flux". When I used to have to solder wires years ago. Always had to use the Flux. So the wire would absorb the solder. This is the second video of soldering rear defrost tabs back on. And they all do an amazing job. I'm just curious. Will it hold better with or without soldering Flux? For stability and great electric connection? Nobody seems to answer my questions. I just don't want to screw up the job. I tried that Permatex adhesive for rear window defrost tabs. And the Adhesive was garbage. The eBay seller was kind enough to refund my money back. Because I asked them why if I followed the directions perfectly? Why wouldn't the Permatex adhesive work after it was mixed and all areas were lightly sanded and cleaned up? I said maybe I received one from a bad batch. I asked the eBay seller it they could check the product to see if maybe I was correct? Pretty sure they did. Because they apologized and issued me a refund immediately. So I'm not sure should I add soldering Flux? Or just solder it directly to the window? Where my tab was broken off. It wasn't like the ones I see in these videos. Looked like it was pulled off? Because on one side where the tab was supposed to be. You could see through the rear window glass. I'm going to try it the way this gentleman is doing his. If I don't have a connection? Then because my 06 Chevy Impala LTZ has been known to have a faulty wire the burns out by the passenger side of the right of the floorboard. Sometimes not only is it on my type car the tabs. But people had to cut the burned out cable and use a 10 Gauge wire, As a jumper wire. Having to solder it on both sides above and below the big wiring connector. I hope just soldering my car tab fixed it? My rear view mirrors also have defrost mirrors that get pretty hot when touching with your fingers. So I'm hoping that I won't have to open the passenger side floorboard to have to see if the connection wires are also burned out? I think this happens on Chevy Impala's from 2006-2016? And also on their Chevy Silverado's and Chevy Malibu's? But I still would like to understand why no soldering Flux? Maybe it's not needed? Would greatly appreciate any help with the Flux question. Thank You.

Is the back glass and electrical connectors the same design?

Mine the solder won't grip on the tab. Solder keeps falling off. I sanded and cleaned the tab. Solder just rolls off

That’s strange, if you figure out another solution please provide an update.

@@consumerreviewsanddiys6277 some people say that the tab has to be heated up very hot so the solder will stick to it. What baffled me is. It's made of Copper. It's been cleaned. I tried everything. Even using flux..I had on Side of the tab hold a small blop of solder by using Vasoline. But when doing the other side of the clip. The solder fell off. I'm going to try holding the soldering iron on the tab for a long time. To see if that costs the tab with the solder?

Mine broke the tab off so I’ll have to full replace. Hopefully I don’t break the glass getting it off. 😂

@4mikeyd I would suggest using an adhesive like E6000 around the outer edges on both sides to hold the connector in place and then work on soldering it down. Let us know if that helps.

Thank you. I tried for over an hour to get the solder to go on the tab. The tab has been cleaned. But no matter what. The solder doesn't have a solid grip and with a light tug. Comes off. You made it look so easy. Where the tab is broken off on my car. Looks like it was yanked off by someone. Because you can see the glass in one area. I have a question please. Can I apply the tab slightly lower than where it was originally? I think someone else? Maybe the cars previous owner tried some glue like Epoxy. Because can see some hard glue there also. I have watched a lot of KZbin videos regarding soldering. Some ppl say that you have to heat the copper tab up hot First in order to get the solder to grip? I haven't soldered since I am a kid. Bc I used to have to for RC remote control cars. For there little motors. I bought a soldering iron with a temperature gauge on it. The temperature goes up to 450c degrees. I don't know why my tab didn't have any old solder on it? And I tried the permatex. And it just fell off. I see on eBay a Defrost tab bond set. That has like a silver and another type adhesive that is pretty expensive. And I would have to mix the two adhesive bonds and put on the tab and my rear window. This is why I wanted to see. Because the grid is wide on right and left sides. But will it get connectivity by placing the tab a little lower. The entire rear window grid looks like it's all copper. What do you think? Can I place the tab lower but about one inch lower? Thank you very much for replying. Nobody else has. It's appreciated very much.

I have to say I'm excited over finally fixing my rear defrost. I tried soldering which did not stick. I also tried permatex kit which never worked. Did a lil more research and found the Frost Fighter Rear Defroster Tab Bonding Kit. Got mine off of Amazon. Hopefully this helps anyone having issues where the solder will not hold. 👍🏾
