Sounds like you'll still want a fair number of extra Chaos spawn figs to play this. Folks who don't want to build their own out of bits or pay $25 each for the official models might want to look at the Gellerpox Infected Kill Team - at $65 you get four models that are entirely suitable as spawn, bases size and all, plus another 19 smaller figs that you could probably find other uses for. Paint 'em up in Tzeentchi colors and you can really piss off that tubby plague-blob they're supposed to be working for.

Good stuff. Tzeentch is a faction I've always found appealing, but something about the troops just never grabbed me. Maybe I just don't like birds. It's wacky how many weird tweaks they'll put into warscrolls to try to balance the Battleboxes, even if it means throwing those units for a loop, only to undo it a month later. For what it's worth, the point values are identical to the GHB (suggesting that they had most of this already worked out around that time -- what few changes there were -- and real world factors are again at fault for any delays).

Thanks for the awesome video, always super quick on these reviews! 👍 as a long time tzeentch player, this is such a disappointing book. Hardly anything was updated and so many old mechanics carried through. This is such a poor effort from GW

Snazzy new cover, I'll enjoy reading this. Eyes of the Nine and the Fatemaster models arent available to buy, I'm guessing when the new Curseling model gets a solo release they'll repackage Eyes and maybe the Fatemaster.

For the casting 3 spells battle tactic I don’t think the free endless spell summon is counted as it’s before the battle round starts. Probably needs a faq but that’s just how I read it

It doesn’t need a FAQ. It’s very clear that the spell is cast before the tactic is picked, so it doesn’t count. Also, the endless spell isn’t free. You have to already know the spell, so you have to have paid the points.

Chaos spawn are completely different and way better. They heal fully if you cast a spell and can do moral wounds now. I am not sure why you said they were the exact same...

Pretty sure the Curseling ISN'T the same as from the battle box. He can steal spells that he unbinds again for example. Please revisit the Warscroll and tell us what he does now.

Looks very similar to the old version (including being back to 5 Wounds), except instead of immediately casting the spell he unbinds, he can immediately cast _Glean Magic_ (which looks mechanically identical to the old version) that cannot be unbound; so you can learn a spell in your opponent's turn, even from a different wizard from the one whose spell you unbound, but you no longer get to shoot the canceled spell back at them. Staff is D6 attacks for both missile and melee.

You seem hung up on Guild of Summoners but it's just like the old one that wasn't very good, only objectively worse now that Kairics are not wizards and don't generate points...

I think they weren’t wizards in the box because the box didn’t include any faction rules, so they wanted to keep things simple.

It's better than the old way. Now it caps at 18 for the 2nd and more LoC. Before the 3rd one was 27 Fate points

This is a bad take man. Guild of summoners looks INSANE. You start the game with 1 fate point for auto casting the summon endless spell spell. Then you take the once per game artifact to get +3 summoning points and you’ve got 4 summoning points before anyone has even cast a spell. You bring a fluxmaster who is going to generate up to 10 fate points(not going to happen) each turn, averaging 4. Then kairos produces another 3. You’re looking at a pretty much guaranteed 11 fate points on turn one with just 2 heroes. That’s a first turn lord of change. Second turn you’re starting with at least 2. Getting another basically guaranteed 7. Up to 9. By turn three you’ve got another pretty much guaranteed lord of change just from two casters. Throw in more casters including your wizard battleline and you’re very feasibly getting 3-4 lords of change in a game. Guild of summoners isn’t the same at all. It’s on crack now.

Pretty sure pink horrors are always battle line whether they split or pop. Horrors are only not battle line if you want a cheap chaff unit of blues or brims to start with.

You can take a unit of 9 pinks and 1 blue, this makes them not battleline, thus not Galletian Veterans. Still 250 points, but won't get blended by bounty hunters
