I’m a fan of the camera mic more than the clip on. The sound of contact on the club is so much sweeter with it also I think when you guys approach the camera to talk it gives it more of like a friendly feeling like your approaching us as a viewer to bring us into it rather than speaking to each other through mics. I like the off the cuff smack talk that happens in the background or Matt yelling as opposed to hearing it clearly from 150 yards away.

I'd Say lavs for behind the scense, shotgun for the golf. Possibly both for the golf if you're doing a two camera shoot (or have an audio recorder). That way you can use the shotgun for sound of impact and golfer but if anyone makes a joke or comment from a far (or in another cart) you also capture it and can layer it in.
@HarambeDid911

Totally agree there should be a mic for each person but one main mic on the cam like they usually do and then just sync all the mic’s at start of editing and go back and forth between recordings depending on what audio is best for each scenario - as you said contact the cam mic sounds great, but when they’re walking around and addressing the ball and such I like the lav mics

@@olafforkbeard4782 oh for sure - as simple as we make it sound, just syncing the audio can be annoying and then any cuts along the way or moving layers around the timeline will just provide more attention to detail and so much more can go wrong. To me, no one is even close to this quality of content the good good boys put out so if things just stayed status quo I’d be happy but I respect and appreciate their drive to take the quality even further and experiment new ways to create, film and produce their content

They're good players but they clearly are not ready for the challenges of the Ocean course and I'm wondering what happened to their video of the Lake Course they were supposed to play the day after. The Ocean course is fairly wide open but they managed to find some very gnarly overgrown spots way off the fairway and once that happens at the Ocean, you're looking at a double or worse. Also, they never did figure out the speed of the greens and apparently no one told them that all the putts break towards Lake Merced.

@AB-nv7bz

Its not bad golf. Conditions are really tough on the norcal coast. And they got a good day. Those misses would be rough at most courses, and the constant wind is very difficult if you don't play in it all the time. Golf courses in the southeastern US are big af, and wind is rare. Golf courses in the southwest deserts, are super flat(sure there are some in the mountains, but its not standard), and typically pretty wide. These courses are tight, fast, with not many level lies. In my last round alone i played 9i from 118 (typically 150 club). 8i from 129 (typically 165 club), 5i from 168 (typically 200 club). All shaped low. Then get a quartering downwind from 225, and have to shape a 22* hybrid (215 club) high over a tree with a fade to ride the wind, land pin high roll to back(should have hit a 5i and knew it, but the hybrid is so much easier to hit high). This is all in one round. Its standard. My point is, unless you play in these conditions a lot it really messes with your mind. Constantly second guessing with the wind, and significant temperature changes during a given round. Played rounds starting out with thermal lowers and pants to running into the bathroom to take it all off for the back 9. Calm front 9 to 30 mph gusts to finish the last 3 holes. I have lived here 8 years gone from an 11 to a 5 handicap. If i still lived in GA i would be scratch as i can have a loose drive, i wouldn't have to think about my approach shots other than distance, greens are softer, fairways won't kick your ball ob if you land on the wrong side. There are just so many more variables when you have 30 degree temp swings on courses 30 miles apart, constant wind with changing speed, and multi club elevation changes.
@catchyaaround
@catchyaaround 2 жыл бұрын
@@AB-nv7bz dude, what a phenomenal response lol 🙌. But that is why I said “bad” golf, with quotes. They would consider this “bad” golf for themselves when in reality it’s actually great golf still because of the conditions and differences from down south.

One big way your videos help out my game aside from some regular motivation is paying attention to and copying your decision making when you get yourselves into trouble such as what club you're choosing and why (example the tall grass could twist your club face). Choosing easy punch on to the fairway vs swinging full tilt and probably getting in to more trouble anyway. A bad round for you guys is in most cases a great if not the best round some of us beginners could hope for, it makes your content much more relatable its nice to see both sides of the game from you guys. Went out yesterday for the first time in a year. I shot ok. I lost quite a bit of distance but for me I kinda expected that. Garrett's said something that is so true with this game... Sometimes you just don't got it. I agree 💯. Being in my late 40s, golf is actually getting harder to play and stay consistent at.

Ayo on your trip, some good course ideas are Sandpiper, Spyglass, Spanish Bay, Rustic Canyon, Calabasas CC, Los Angeles CC(2023 US Open Course), Pelican Hill, Riviera, Brentwood CC, and Torrey. Some California courses near the coast that are spectacular.

I really love the camera mic for tee shots, something pure about hearing those but then use body mics for everything else. If thats not too much work, if you have to use one or the other I think id take the body mic's for the added commentary

The audio with the lav mics is way better. I hope you are playing Pebble on the way down to San Diego. I can’t wait to be back there again in the spring. Great job guys.

The mics - way better! The camera angles - looking at you laying on the green catching that nice putt - beautiful. The chemistry is enjoyable and great. I watch this on my way in to the shop and love it, makes my trip fly by. Keep it up!

Actually love to see that you guys are human! lol. Loving the new series boys, however, personally, I like the OG mic setup more. Something about hearing the purity of the shots is music to my ears. Keep up the great work though Garrett and Grant!

Idk most the feedback I saw was we prefer cam mics cus you can actually here the club face contact. Which is a huge part of the presentation IMO. Ended up switching from this video to Good Good’s new video just because I prefer the traditional presentation

Main complaint for the clip-on mic is the sound when y’all strike the ball, doesn’t have the same sound as the rest of the videos. Feels a little less personal sometimes, too. I’d love a good mix of both. What a beautiful course, love living my golf like through all you guys at Good Good. Can’t wait to meet y’all in Plano Saturday!

Fellas-regardless of the final tally I can always count on 3 things watching y'all: I'll ALWAYS be entertained, I'll ALWAYS learn something, and I'll ALWAYS get atleast one lipout from Grantasaurus. The Holy-freakin-Trinity!!! Thanks for all you do and keep up the great work.

I love the new mics around the green and when your putting. But the audio from the camera when your hitting tee shots or irons sounds a lot better.

The 11th hole they played was originally holes 15 and sixteen until the Weiskopf redesign. 15 was an uphill dogleg right short par 4 and 16 was a challenging uphill par 4 slight dogleg right which could play much longer when winds would get going.

Garret, on hole 14 where you said "drop for a baseball swing" you are not allowed to drop it on that side of the cart path. The free drop it to the closest point of relief, which would have been in the rough to the left of the cart path.

The only thing I don’t like about the lapel mics is that you don’t hear the club interaction as well as you normally do, especially driver off the tee box. That might be something Max or Collin can play with in post, maybe you can choose how much output is coming from each mic or bump up the normal camera during the actual swing. Idk. Just my thoughts, cheers boys this is my favorite series so far, would love to see more travel/lifestyle type vlog content.

I feel like this may be overcomplicating things, but I would strap a mic to every guy use the main cam mic for most things, but then tap into the strapped on mics when the guys are far from the camera. At the very least use the cam mic for the sound when shots are hit. Then player mics for when max, collin, ryder, are far away.
