In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will share with you the 5 aggressive ideas to punish the Bg5/Bg4 pin on your knight. It can be annoying when your opponents play Bg4 or Bg5 and pin your knight. However, this is one of the most common chess opening mistakes that amateurs make. One should know how to deal with or punish this pin.
Very often, chess players feel uncomfortable with this pin and they don't know how to deal with it. As a result, they play passively by putting their bishop behind the knight to unpin it, such as Be2 or Be7, which is the worst reaction to an opponent trying to pin your knight.
There are a lot more aggressive and better ways to deal with this annoying pin. That is exactly what you will learn from this video lesson. Mainly, you will learn to exploit the major drawback of this Bg5/Bg4 move.

Thank you Igor for all you have done for the chess community ! You have done videos on how to PUNISH early queen moves (such as Patzer) and this video on how to PUNISH bishop pins on knights. In addition, (beginner) players often incorrectly play the Italian against the Sicilian defense. Everyone always comments that this is not a smart move (since black can always play e6), but still the computer evaluation gives a score of about zero in many lines of the Italian game against the Sicilian. While it may be easy to nullify the Italian game (with e6) when playing the Sicilian, can you please do a video on how to truly PUNISH white for playing the Italian opening against the Sicilian? thank you for considering !

Noted. I'm also planning a video on how to play that Sicilian variation (with Bc4) correctly for White. At least you'll know what variations you should be careful with while playing it as Black.

Hey guys. i got a quick question. if i am for example playing white and my Knight at C3 gets pinned by Bb4 which pins my king and 80% of the times I push it away by playing A3 it hits forcing me to hit with my pawn and ruining up pawn structure. In this case what is a better move for me to do?
@killerkarnickel671
@killerkarnickel671 Жыл бұрын
Often times this is totally fine on the queen side because it opens up a file for your rook, you can develop your bishop to b2 or a3 and just castle short. You get great compensation for the damaged pawn structure. Only if you dont have the d pawn it sometimes sucks because an isolated double pawn is even worse.
@killerkarnickel671
@killerkarnickel671 Жыл бұрын
Dont play a3 to provoke it tho and just develop normally if possible, after you castle short the knight isn't pinned anymore. a3 just loses you a move and might take the square away from the bishop

Alternative line (including a knight sac) 13:20 white knight takes black knight, Bishop capttures white's Q, then check with white bishop on b5 ... pawn blocks on c6, knight takes pawn on c6, attacking Queen. pawn takes knight on c6, white bishop on b5 takes pawn on c6 check (and forking the rook), Queen forced to block, bishop takes queen+.
