The third tip seems to be the reverse of the principle which Bobby Fisher follows, the rule is "when opponent's piece enters my territory, neutralize it"; the third tip in this video seems like the opposite: "when my piece can enter opponent's territory without being neutalized easily, move it there"

Thats a good thing to pick up on! The corollaries of all of these ideas are true for the *opposite* side. Like Fisher said, neutralize the pieces entering your territory, look for how *your opponent* can counterattack when you begin an attack, etc.

Its the same basically pieces are at there strongest when there at the opposite half of the board therefore you should not let your opponents be on your territory but at the same time try to infiltrate to there territory

Not 100% the same. It is to attack something there, not necessarily to move piece there.

I started playing in January. I finally just hit over 1500. My biggest weakness is time. I mainly play 3+2. About 39% of my losses are from timeout. In those timeouts, about 75% are with me in winning positions.

I would encourage you to play a mix of time controls You’ll develop REALLY awful habits that will seriously harm your progression if you only play blitz (or even worse, bullet) But on the other hand, playing fast is sometimes necessary, and tactical awareness is great, and that is honed well by blitz games (you should analyze every single game right after you play it, even blitz games, if you want to improve) So I’m not going to tell you not to play blitz, but I am going to strongly suggest you also play longer time control games (even correspondence games can be great especially for learning opening theory)

@ifbfmto9338 thanks for the sound advice. I do play rapid as well. I enjoy rapid, but sometimes it's too slow. Bullet is too fast. I always seem to go back to the 3+2 as it helps to keep my mind engaged. I often play multiple hours a day (over 10000 games since January!).

@@ZamirohI also play a ton of online blitz (and for that my favorite time control is also 3 + 2) but by far my favorite type of chess, is OTB 15 + 10 or sometimes even longer, that actually allows you to think and plan carefully and (usually) not have to move ‘impulsively’ to avoid losing on time Blitz time controls, as you’ve probably already figured out, favor two types of play: they favor offbeat, complex lines where if you have opening knowledge and your opponent doesn’t, they’ll waste so much time figuring out the right approach (or they’ll just miss it and mess up) that you’ll win or be close to it right out of the opening: a good example of this would be the Budapest gambit as black, if you put some effort into learning the lines you’ll murder people at 1500 level (and higher) Blitz time controls also heavily favor aggressive play, even if it’s unsound (Budapest gambit is a good example of this too, and there are lots of somewhat unsound piece sacs that are ‘good’ in blitz) And blitz time controls DO NOT reward careful play/planning because it simply takes too much time to play this way, it’s far better to just play actively and aggressively and ignore almost everything else And playing actively and aggressively is an extremely important part of chess so, blitz does help you develop as a player, but you’ll also develop major holes in your game if you don’t play other time controls and put some effort into studying Now a very strong player can play really well and incorporate positional play even in bullet, but frankly, most people can’t and never will be able to For most people, blitz and especially bullet is just an absolute s**** show 😂🤷🏼‍♂️ You say you play some rapid which is good, but I agree that online rapid chess has its flaws (people who just stop moving to waste time in lost positions, people who cheat, etc) whereas OTB these are not significant issues, and the OTB players tend to take chess quite seriously and are usually willing to discuss the game afterwards and this helps A LOT (as long as you’re playing a strong enough opponent, of course)

Hi GM Smirnov, just a quick question... the man said "and i have started doing this last course that you has published"... At the end of the video you said he is talking about 3 steps to 2000 elo because he started by saying "i recently bought the course 3 steps to 2000 elo"... but could he be talking about the other one you recently made? Cause technically that's the last course you published Anyway cant wait to watch the lessons of 3 steps to 2000 elo, i bought that months ago but as i'm trying to finish my university studies i postponed chess learning [And after that i'm really intrigued by the gm positional understanding one and probably others that I saw xD so far I need to improve my middle game and sometimes also endgame... i find myself in midgame often asking myself "what should i do now?" when the position is closed and checking the evaluation after the game i often find that my move either remove my slight advantage or even worse was a blunder xD]

2000 in lichess is 1400 in chess. To become 1400 you just need play some games and solve lot of simple tactics, just not Blunder in 1-2 moves and play reasonable moves, develop pieces, castle etc. Just follow simple rules. When I joined lichess i gained 1600 for nothing because it was the default value, now I believe its calculated after few games played.

@@Glicerolthats weird because I have seen some 1800 fide players in the 2000 to 2100 lichess range. I don’t think you can compare fide and classical like that since it is still very different. 2350 is really impressive tho, my trainer is around 2500 lichess and he is fide over 2200. how long have you been playing chess?

There is no universal conversion rate between online and FIDE ratings. Sure, FIDE is stronger but the gap is different for anyone. It can be from 200 to 600, some people are much worse OTB and some are decent there, too.

yes, for the moment. but I am pretty sure that is a bad move. you shouldn’t just put your queen on the same diagonal as the enemy bishop like that. like for example what were you going to do after a simple move like Qc2 defending the bishop. because now a the pawn push is an even bigger threat and it looks like you have problems.

No but how else wil you measure your progress? ELO is an indicator of progress. People who play chess are competitive by nature so just to play for fun without improvement is frustrating and demotivating. If you're gonna do something might as well do it as best as you can.

@@desmyt67It’s really, really, really hard to be a master in chess I have no idea what your level is, but for a ‘beginner’ around 1000 it usually takes several years to approach 2000 level And even though master is ‘only’ 200-300 points above that (depends on if you mean NM or FM or maybe CM) it usually takes years to progress from 2000 to that level

Well - 11:52 - the black had 2150. I donˇt understand how such strong player has played so stupidly in the beginning of the play. The last player made also horrible mistake. At the beginning this combination by the last play wasn´t better to play Kf6-d5, than to play d6xe5?
