to explain the "alternate realities" those actually somewhat appear in the show, the field of grain appeared in one of the characters nightmares (minus the boat and shack),while the other one in the winter is what the shack used to look like when it was under the ownership of stans brother before stan took it over
@42andblue52 жыл бұрын
So from what I can tell, after entering the portal, the story seems to be Stan having a nightmare about his brother Ford, who went missing years ago after an accident involving Stan and him getting into a fight, and Ford falling into the portal. Throughout the show, Stan is trying to get him back by trying to get the portal working, and based on the line "The nephews will arrive in a few days", it seems to be set just a few days before the beginning of the show. You probably already know this based on you mentioning knowing some of the imagery from the snowy shack, but the golden triangle-shaped figure is the main villain of the show, Bill Cipher, he's a dream demon that has a weird obsession with Ford and his family, so it's likely meant to be him influencing Stan's mind to make him have this nightmare for fun

The whole portal sequence is Stan's nightmare of getting Stanford stuck in the other dimension ( the wheat field is Stan' s memory of when Stanford and him played in, the boat is the Stan o' war 2 and the shack is when Stanford had it, before it became a tourist trap, the portal is just their as a bitter memory of Stan and Stanford's mistake, Stan's pride and greed and Stanford's trust in Bill and naivety ), the door transitions into the past when Stanford first met Bill and started to make the portal, it's also a slight vision from Bill to Stan to get him to reactivate the portal and bring Stanford back, this sequence happens before Dipper and Mable show up.

One of the coolest thing gravity falls has done was, they actually had hidden a massive secret mystery in the intro's, where people deciphered stuff reversed it, and etc, I don't know if the mystery has ever been solved.

@beezarstuff38072 жыл бұрын
Alright, here's the "story" of the Gravity Falls map. You play as Stanley right before the events of episode 1 of Gravity Falls, you have a dream where you find all 3 journals and activate the portal. You go in with the intention of finding Stanford, because all those years ago he fell into it. When you go in you are greeted with a wheat field, the Mystery Shack is the house and the boat is a boat that young Stanford and Stanley were going to ride in, called the Stan o' War. What's odd is that this exact wheat field is also seen in Stanford's dream later into the show. Then you go into the door thing and end up at the Mystery Shack, before it was the Mystery Shack, and not only that, but it's the night that Stanford fell into the portal. The triangle is of course Bill, but it's strange that he's there because Stanley shouldn't know that, and the silhouette at the end is Stanford, not Stanley, but I'm sure you knew that as well. Stanley then wakes up, the nephews are of course Dipper and Mabel, and the "you" that Stanley says he'll bring back is Stanford, since Stanley wants to save him. Some stuff doesn't really make sense if you haven't watched the show, but I hope I explained it well enough. There's some stuff I skipped so I wouldn't have to explain the entire plot of an episode, or the show for that matter. Sorry that I wrote an entire paragraph, I just really like Gravity Falls.

King ramses scared me on a very, very primal level. Something about his waving, out of place figure, the way he'd speak, the slowness, the kind fo echo to it. Fred just made me really uncomfortable, just made feel what I can best describe now as about to get my buns forcefully buttered by the tweaker behind Walgreen's. Courage was one if not the first to introduce me to a certain theme, that kind of mysterious desert or place vibe. Some what like Rockbottom from spongebob, especially from the employee of the month game that now has become abandonware. Most notably the TV building's exterior. My sister later introduced me to Nightvale, and now I just eat up whatever I can find that fits closely to the mold. Can't get enough. Love courage the cowardly dog.

Gravity Falls TOTALLY pushes the boundaries of what we would consider a "kid's show". There are a lot of really dark and mature themes and imagery, especially in season 2, that are aimed towards a much older audience than Disney was pushing for with their TV-Y7 rating. Within the fandom there's a compilation video called "Another goofy episode filled with silly jokes for kids" featuring some of the more horrifying imagery and adult jokes from the series, I'd recommend giving that a watch if not the whole show. There's a surprising amount of body horror! Bit of a tangent but despite series creator Alex Hirsch having to work within Disney's overly-strict guidelines, he managed to skirt a lot of things past standards & practices. There's a hilarious clip from Hirsch's Twitter reading some of the emails from S&P, showing some of the ridiculous things that oversensitive censors wanted cut like the word "poopface", which is funny considering they let the "ancient sins" scene slide.

The short and simple version of the portal scene is that it is actually a dream which as you surmised is the cause of the discordant imagery. Specifically a dream that belongs to Stanford and Stanley, with bits of their mutual past that could be considered defining moments scattered around. The portal Stanford built and Stanley has tried to rebuild, the mystery shack where Stanford studied the supernatural and Stanley started his tourist trap, plans to buy a boat and have adventures when they were a children, and of course the endless fields of wheat they both traveled across to get from the East Coast to the West. The second bit meanwhile is a mixed dream and memory of the Shack long before it became a tourist trap and was still a hub of scientific research on Gravity Falls.

Thinking about Gmod sandbox maps with "stories", I'm reminded of sb_Omen_v2. I don't know how vr friendly it is but it certainly has an adventurous atmosphere. The whole planetary style might make it impossible to play seamlessly without a vehicle or something. It's certainly designed for a monitor but could still work in vr if you aren't in a rush. Another space map with hidden bits is "gm_spacemap_v2", which I also think you may like but it too has issues with the lack of fine keyboard controls; like crouching, running, driving, ect. Then again there is also the whole space problem, where it isn't simple to get from one space rock to the next. Maybe a seamless Tardis mod could help but I'm no expert.
@cookiecreeperplayz2 жыл бұрын
I would just use a spacebuild mod, which btw SB in sb_omen_v2 stands for spacebuild. Basically allows you to build your own ships and adds gravity systems to supported maps like gm_spacemap_v2. You could also download some spaceship vehicle addons. I found this cool addon that localizes your gravity to the ship so on the ship gravity would be directed toward the ship floor, but the gravity on the outside would still be normal. I doubt that would work in vr though.
@cookiecreeperplayz2 жыл бұрын
Also, the Tardis mod is definitely cool. I actually mainly use the tardis mod on space maps as it allows you to fly around. When you say "a" tardis mod, there is only one. Unless there is another super obscure one out there. Either way the one I use uses the doors mod which allows for seamless transitions in and out to the bigger inside. The mod itself is unique in that people make addons for the addon to add unique interiors and exteriors from different era's of Doctor Who. You can also fly with the door open, plus it has a camera. I never tried it in vr tho and I imagine vehicles in vr isn't easy.

Regarding Freaky Fred's past and what landed him in the nuthouse, he only describes enjoying feeling "naughty" when shaving people against their will, nothing else really. Late in the episode, the number Courage calls to get the people to come and take Freaky Fred away, is a contact number for the "Home for Freaky Barbers". So, supposedly, he didn't do anything worse in nature than what he describes in the episode. TLDR: He is just a freaky barber, no more, no less.

I’ve been binge watching all your videos and honestly you make my day. I would love if you played the original Psychonauts. Would be a really great fit for the channel!

I love courage the cowardly dog. but the more I remember from the show the less it feels like a show meant for kids. never bothered watching gravity falls though never seemed good but seeing the Gmod map kinda makes me want to check it out lol.

I'd definitely recommend Gravity Falls, it's a great show. And like Courage, it doesn't shy away from scary shit in a few episodes.

@@akamanto7456 The shapeshifting "author" who said Dipper would die and then "took his final form" to which he would take that exact same form when the Northwest's house was on fire? When a literal hellscape engulfed the town, turning them into golden statues for a throne? Bill Cipher inverting Pacifica's face so that his ears were his eyes and his mouth were his ears?

We interrupt this program to bring you...Courage the Cowardly Dog Show, starring Courage, the Cowardly Dog! Abandoned as a pup, he was found by Muriel, who lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, Eustace Bagge.

That Courage Map was progressing through the curses, which meant there may have been a lot more to it. Or not.
