GMT METROLOGY - LEVELLING A SURFACE PLATE

What are the supporting bolts for? I understand they have to be lower than the balancing bolts, but what is their purpose?

Supporting bolts are provided to prevent the Surface Plate from tilting when larger loads are placed on the surface..

Sir do you make changes in M16 supporting bolts....or only granite plates on leveling bolt ....

Yes, the support bolts have to be adjusted after levelling, to just touch the lower surface of the plate. It is not advisable to use the plate without final adjustment of the support bolts. However the position of the support bolts does not affect the level of the surface plate. It is an essential part of installing the plate, after levelling, but is not intrinsically a part of the levelling process.
