Holy Crap! That sounds so majestic! Portray this. It is the first day of school, and your parents call you down to have some breakfast, and when you are eating it, GMTV comes on. Do you guys agree?

Such a 1990s theme! Lovely to hear once again! So remember GMTV from TLS studio 5, now sadly gutted and awaiting demolition. :-(.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: There was NO REASON for them to go this hard for the track... but I'm so glad they did. Especially the saxophone player! xD

I might be the only person ever to think that the initial GMTV format wasn't all that bad. It was a jarring leap from the familiar and, by then, popular TV-am. And it wasn't as good. But it wasn't as bad as people said it was. There were things which needed a bit of work to make right, but all in all it was a decent mix of items and I'd dare say better than anything on offer today at Breakfast. I do understand why they quickly reformatted to a TV-am clone, and it did improve the show. But I think I'd have liked to have seen the original GMTV format take root, see what it could have grown into given time. I can't say as I really properly watched it, but I certainly kept an eye on it in its early months. It was interesting because it was something new. But as soon as it turned back into TV-am, the sense of intrigue for the new company hit a hard brick wall and became creatively boring. I think I just have a fondness for TV which tries something a bit different. Even if it's not very appealing to watch, it's at least fascinating to cast an analytical eye over. And those early weeks of GMTV were indeed fascinating.

They had to adopt the TVam format otherwise it wouldn't have been financially viable. Indeed Daybreak had to adopt the TVam and GMTV concept in 2012 even with the appointment of the main female TVam presenter on two occasions firstly in 1993 and then again in 2012

I think the ITC should have removed the licence from them for reverting to the TV-am format. Although GMTV won primarily on massively outbidding TV-am, they did have to pass the quality threshold to qualify for consideration of the cash bid. And I cannot imagine that the ITC would ever have accepted the pitch if it had been to simply carbon-copy Good Morning Britain. The fact that they then had their annual payment reduced to somewhere close to TV-am's bid was a real kick in the teeth. TV-am lost their entire business to a company which stole its format, broke its promises, and failed to meet the financial obligation which ousted TV-am in the first place. The ITC were very weak in their handling of GMTV's vast failures to oblige their remit. I strongly suspect that GMTV would not have survived three years on air, at the hands of the IBA.

That’s a very fair review of things. It was a real shock for me that tv-am was gone and makes sense they would try to replicate that sooner or later.

I was GLAD when it went off air in 2010. Never forgave them for their part in TV-am's demise. The original GMB should be brought back
