That's actually one of my biggest gripes about this game. They did all the character interactions, dialogue options, consequences etc. very well. But when it comes to mechanical things, there is some room for improvement. I love the game, and I waited it for almost 20 years, but this is the hill that I'm ready to die on. A game with such a high emphasis on physical character skills needs to have an option to make certain everyday items useful -- not just in battles. I understand the need to prioritize things though, and that's what has happened here, I think.
@petrirantavalli8594 ай бұрын
@@tarvisantabusta tbh I think it's game design choice to not allow a free use of ropes as the game is already at it's limits when it comes to environs and line of sight and allowing free climb to any high place would reveal the sky box and everything as we saw from the camera malfunction on this video. Now that doesn't mean you couldn't use rope to replace the feather fall spell or jumping down from a ledge for instance but I'd assume there is a mod for the ropes already with the game being a year from the release by now.

From what I can tell he doesn't like, respond or even read the comments section of this channel. I've never met someone who has a KZbin channel that doesn't communicate with the fans. It doesn't have to be much. A like or thumbs up on some comments etc. It's a big reason why I like KZbin. Interacting with the content creator. I'm following around 50 KZbin channels and have followed hundreds over the years and this is a first for me.
@Fairburne693 ай бұрын
@@AgonizingDemise He's done many things in the first 7 episodes I wouldn't have done. Mostly combat related. But I'm not telling him how to play it's his game and I understand where you and others are coming from. I'm just trying to point out the difference between telling someone how to play and telling someone how the mechanics of the game work. Then once you have this knowledge you can do whatever you want. If you want to ignore the short rest system because it makes the game too easy go for it. Right now I'm playing in honour mode. Me and my brother. No companions. We do it for the challenge not because we don't understand the mechanics of the game. I 100% don't think he knows that his Ki points come back with a short rest and that he can use them more freely. He's worried about resources NOT because he's trying to play longer but because he doesn't realize the resource he has with short rests and how they interact with healing and abilities like Ki points, Second wind and action surge for example. Are you're telling me he DOES understand these things and is choosing to not use them on purpose? If so then I would disagree. If you are correct then I agree with you. As much as I LOVE BG3 and Larian Studios I blame them a bit for this. The tutorial isn't very good for beginners who are new to D&D 5e. In TRRPG'S the GM and other players are there to help guide the new players. Teach them the rules and how they work. In a video game this isn't usually the case so a good tutorial is important. However as a KZbinr you have fans that can be your GM or players. They can be the ones that teach you the things a bad tutorial doesn't. The reason why I'm getting so defensive is that I'm trying to HELP him. NOT tell him how to play. There is a BIG difference between the two. I would think wanting to help a new player with the game mechanics would be a good thing. Telling them how to use them or how to play is the bad thing.

@Safiyahalishah4 ай бұрын
I agree, personally. The game always figures out how to tell you the most important details about your companions, even if you don't long rest, like the hilarious overworld scene where Astarion will just be like 'hey this hasn't really come up naturally but errrr I'm a vampire lol'. I barely long-rested in Act 1 during my first playthrough, and I kind of think people are overstating the importance of the cutscenes. They're not essential, they're just fun. But the game is fun regardless. And it's honestly a huge bummer to get so many camp interactions in Act 1 and almost none in Act 3 when you're long-resting like buggery because there are so many boss battles. So it's almost better not to feel that disappointment during your first playthrough of the game.
@dietrichenstein4 ай бұрын
Agreed, it's getting a bit much. Like I get that people want to see him react to companion interactions, but EVERYONE experiences these things differently on the their first playthrough and it's part of what makes the SECOND playthrough so magical. I missed ENTIRE area's, NPC's and plotlines in my first playthrough and it was still an incredibly complete and satisfying experience that didn't feel like it was 'lacking' in anyway. This is starting to look like an evil playthrough! Murders, assassinations, stealing, befriending the Zentharim, ... hehehe

Long Rest as many times as you need, even if it's regain a single spell slot. It doesn't matter. And the game wants you to long rest often. Don't walk around with a half-dead party, you'll regret it almost every time.

Lolll! Astarion won't bite anyone else dw. He really was just trying to make conversation... these lil interactions are how you get to know all the companions and grow closer/gain their trust👍✨️

Resting is vital and you should do a long rest at the very least after every 2 or 3 encounter. There is quite literally no reason to not just do that.

i just played it for the first time and i decided to start in honour mode... i took some key that lay in a birds nest and that made every druid aggro and they decided to kill all the tieflings, so i killed every druid. now karlach wanted to have nothing to do with me so i killed her too. i just killed the gnoll warleader and stand before waukeens rest so lets see how it goes :D

I don’t like saving reading for the end. There’s a ton of stuff that is entirely contextual and helps piece together mysteries and gives hints on finding hidden stuff in the area. It’s honestly a bit off-putting compared to your usual playthroughs in games with a lot to read. Some things are very purposefully placed to read in the moment you find them

Catching up, pretty sure you are correct on the reason you could not keep using speak with animals because you died. You already cast the initial instance, so you could not reuse it but since you died you lost the status effect that lets you keep recasting it for free.

Tip the game won’t tell you that would have helped this episode, when using keyboard/mouse and moving the party, a right click will cancel and halt your party in their tracks. Great play through so far, can’t wait until your ready for a real Honour Mode run! Love your energy and your mind set to how you play!

Reckless Attack with Karlach: as you saw, you never have to chose it, the system will automatically ask you if you want to use it when you fail an attack. Since it also gives Advantage to enemies, it's better to not use it if you don't have to.

I stole all the explosive barrels and stored them at camp, they proved useful many times elsewhere.
