Leazel and Karlack are much stronger with melee weapons, the reason is that Strength is used for melee weapons and Dexterity is used for ranged weapons (exception for melee weapon that are Finesse, they use Dexterity). So that means that the Strength bonus is applied to both the attack rolls and the damages for melee weapons (exception Finesse), and that the Dexterity bonus applies to attack rolls and damages for range weapons.

Inspirations are either going to happen or not as you go through the game. You can only hold 4 but you still get a bit of xp from each. Benching Gale won’t “save” the inspirations you’re earning, you just won’t get them because you’re performing the inspiring action while he’s not present. TLDR, don’t worry about your inspirations, just use them as you please. Also, you won’t see the green glow on corpses who will talk to you unless you specifically have “Re-cast Speak With Dead” up. So basically you should cast Speak With Dead on a corpse after every long rest so corpses will be highlighted for the day.

Karlachs Reckless attack is both an action AND a reaction. So you can make a regular attack, and if you miss, it will ask if you want to reactive use Reckless attack to roll your attack roll again. Once you use it, it will apply to all the rest of the attacks you make that round, so if you do a Reckless attack as your main atrack, and then do an attack as a bonus action, you get advantage on the bonus attack as well. You will also get advantage if you get to use your reaction to make an Attack of Opportunity. [Note that if you use Reckless Attack as a reaction on a missed attack roll, then you will not have your reaction available to make Opportunity Atracks.]

I think we all really enjoy your commitment to "no takebacks" and not reloading saves, but I think most of the people watching would be fine with it if, at some point, you wanted to reload a save because a input mishap or something like that put you in an awful situation. I think you're fine about Nettie, but sometimes the game is really frustrating in little details that can really mess up your playthrough in a way you reaaally didn't intend, couldn't see coming, and don't even have any sense of narrative purpose or something that would help make it less annoying (concentration spells anyone ?). Anyway my point is : if at some point you feel like your playthrough's been derailed in a big way because of something you didn't intend, I think most people would understand !

Absolutely. Its all very well going for the DnD experience. But the game, crucially, isn't DnD. There's no DM to say "Are you sure" and out of character point out the consequences of a poor decision, or who can retroactively choose to ignore the outcome of the last encounter, and retcon the TPK. If the game feels like it was unfair or something wasn't fun because of a misunderstanding reload and try again with the past experience in mind.

ehh, I actually like dedication and sticking with the choices (inb4 I'm getting flamed - I know is is a soingle player game) reloading for things you didn't mean, misclicked, some else stuff that spamfilter32 mentions - we all experienced that, that's why HM is "playing very carefully and slowly", not because it is hard, which overall it really isn't but, reloading because you didn't like the outcome of your deliberate choice in dialogue and while exploring (or you said something and now your companion is dead - well, that's RP and choice and consequence), you didn't see coming that the whole area would be aggro on you because you pressed the button that you didn't know what it does, and it blew up something (oh-boo-hoo, poor you lol), I think it is counter RP, personally, that's just my approach, just adding, and certainly saying everyone should play how they like (just saying, "frustrations" about outcomes of actions you intended to do without knowing the outcome - that's just RP experience and on you, simply could just not do it, you know)

Poor fking Nettie, even tho she tried to poison us first (which we resolved). Almost died for a cheap book xD. Truly a chaotic neutral playthrough emerging. Kagha's design is very cool and very deliberate, snake like, especially with that hair. Third tenet is a technicality, "weary and injured" is a very flawed rule, but technically she does kind of break it. "Continue" is what they call a "floating bug", since it not only rare, but conditions for the occurrence are unclear and thus hard to reproduce (besides happening in dialogue). It supposed to show you dialogue options, but instead you see "continue" and when you pick it - first line of dialogue is picked. It is rare, like 2-3 times for 100-120h, but still happens since the days of early access. F5-F8 is the solution, and you can F5 any time. It won't happen a lot for sure, but keep in mind that it might happen again. Personally, I prefer kmb UI much more, since it just allows for more and for faster access to functions, especially fringe ones (personally had no problems accessing anything, after learning where things are). Plus, it is a "typical" cRPG UI for cRPG nerds like myself, but that just it - personal preference. Movement and area search with controller tho are cool, not necessarily better, but cool (although I strongly dislike almost 3rd person in this, simply because of map design and exploration with camera). Still, they did a decent enough job for controller and even split-screen.

I think the issue is that the tieflings at a first glance are keeping more to themselves, other than the one kid none of them are really intruding on the center grove. Its probably the druids avoiding them as well, but most people wont think that deep of it. Like none of the druids are even at the main gate to the place, which doesnt seem like the tieflings wouldve had time to construct themselves Doesnt help that there arent really many druids who talk about it in a more reasonable manner. The ones who dont just hate the tieflings are a random npc most people dont talk to, rath who doesnt comment on the tieflings themselves, and nettie who doesnt mention it

Hey Mapo. Just wanna share a tip for PS5 controller since I am playing on PS5 too. There's a diameter search and a quick search thingy. Diameter/Area search is holding the X button. It will search your area and conveniently list it. Quick Search is tapping/holding R3 as well as checking an npc's line of sight. It doesn't display on a list but you immediately see things on screen. But it's not as thorough as the diameter search though. Tapping R3 in inventory or stat screen toggles display of description of items and statuses too. Very convenient. Now most PS5 don't know but tapping the pad (where you check maps) while on item description (tooltip/R3 is on) also displays explanations on what it does. Easy to check what an item/equipment/spell does instead of Examine-More Details route.

I havent played this game in quite some months and im honestly shocked to see that the "continue" bug STILL hasn’t been patched out. Basically fyi, sometimes during dialogue instead of your usual options it will just say ‘continue’ and it locks you into choosing whatever the first dialogue options is. Obviously a travesty in a game full of meaningful important choices. The only way i know to deal with the bug is to quicksave which i think you can do during dialogue, and reload it. It sucks a little but its something to keep in mind if the bug comes up ever again

I think you should go with what you're most comfortable with, ofcourse, but personally I much prefer mouse and keyboard. It feels more suited for a CRPG like this and gives better oversight of your resources and possible actions. The controller UI is honestly a little bit of an eye-sore for me. Good idea to keep using both and see which one you prefer in the long run.

Completely agree. Was about to post almost exactly this comment a couple of episodes ago but deleted it because I thought people would shit on it😂. As somebody who always uses controller I’m glad I stuck with keyboard and mouse for this one. I think once you get over the initial hump of a CRPG interface it’s way more intuitive and easier to interact with. The controller UI looks so clunky with all the wheels you have to scroll through that takes up your entire screen. The same amount of info is just a tiny part of the screen for the keyboard experience

Completely disagree. The controller is really intuitive and KBM has always felt like shit to me I any game. Really funny you mention the controller UI is an eyesore because I think the same exact thing about the KBM UI.

@@cody11096 I'm sure Larian did a good job with the controller layout as well, wich is why I understand perfectly well that preferences exist and think Mapo should find out wich he prefers. However, I do feel compelled to make a minor counter-argument. I truly do not understand how the keyboard UI can be seen as an eye-sore when it's a rather descreet menu taking up 10% of the screen. The controller UI takes completely covers the whole screen with clunky wheels that you have to jump back and forth between.

@@sweZACK "clunky" brother, what is clunky about a radial wheel? The concept has existed for decades. In rpgs, fps', and I'm sure many other games LOL
@sweZACK4 ай бұрын
@@cody11096 No other CRPG I know of has a radial wheel of any kind. Larian implemented it out of necessity because they were going to release the game for consoles. Radial wheels might be more or less appropriate for different genres of games, and is mostly used on console because controllers lack the precision of a mouse and cursor. I would indeed describe it as clunky in this context, especially as you gain increasingly more abilities as the game progresses, and you have to switch back and forth between wheels with a very limited amount of slots for abilites. Do you have any actual arguments for why its better? You seem to have taken offence. Relax, I am not saying you can't like it if its what you are used to. I simply think the "eye-sore" argument is very weird when you compare the two UI's, seeing as the controller one is a lot more intrusive/covers more of the screen.

The fact that mapo willingly uses a controller for this game still baffles me

3:00:47 maybe you figured this out during later videos, but if you press the right stick ("R3") you can examine what is in the popup window there on controller. Everything you do on keyboard and mouse can be done on controller. If you have any questions about controller, feel free to ask. I play almost exclusively on controller and have over 500 hours.

Monks can use any weapons they are proficient with. They still do unarmed attacks too. You are missing out on alot of damage if you aren't equipped

The ox dialogue choice was a bug that can happen sometimes. Dialogue options are replaced by a simple "Continue", but pressing it actually acts as if you chose the first dialogue option. In that case, it was the Arcana choice to try and identify why the ox was so strange. You could see it on the upper part of the screen while the dice roll UI was open. A workaround for this bug is to save the game and then load it (and yes, you can save mid-dialogue)

Exhaustion debuff on the bird is actually a fun remnant. They didn't implement exhaustion on players because honestly, it'd be kind of an annoying mechanic to deal with. So yeah, it only exists when manually placed on NPCs.

The DM wouldn't get mad at you for getting side tracked considering they are the ones giving you things to sidetrack you. You should be worried that they keep sidetracking you when you have ticking bombs in your head as they smile to themselves. Also there are times when I ask my players to roll for something and do not tell them. It's generally to see if they notice a small detail, or an ambushing enemy, or a slight lie on information they were already given. Telling them what they are rolling for would ruin the surprise.

1:39:22 Volo!!! I love him, he’s one of my favorite Forgotten Realms characters. He’s a scholar who makes monster manuals and travel guides, though he’s often wrong (either accidentally or on purpose) and that’s supposedly a nod to the fact that a DM doesn’t have to go by specifically what the campaign settings or monster manuals say about anything because you can just say “yeah Volo wrote that, it’s wrong, here’s how it is in *our* game right now. Lots of people think him annoying and they aren’t wrong. I just think it’s the cute kind of annoying ❤

Comment section: Okay we have multiple hours of content here to discuss... SCREW IT let's default to discussing the same subject as last video the big debate of kbm vs controller!
@nickrubin73124 ай бұрын
Nah, Screw controller vs kbm, how about not longresting to my preference, aye? How about that? How about missed that one cutscene I've recorded and replay daily, did he see that, did he picked the option I like that the scene would play longer? You know what, kbm vs controller? Longesting? Certain build? Screw even that, wait till romance options start to pop I'm kind of dying laughing tbh xD

Tip: Hide, go into turn based mode, then read or steal things if there are npcs that are moving about or turning around. If you steal though you should leave the area immediately and return after a minute or 2, and by leave, I mean go to camp.

Use the scanning option to pick/loot stuff, so much easier. I noticed in the last videos that you didn't pick up the herbs you saw when lighting up the tags. Some of those herbs allow you to make Healing Potion, Speed Potion (very powerful), resistance potions, oils to cover your weapons, etc...

Ray of Frost doesn't burn a Spell Slot, there's a bunch of Cantrips like this that don't burn Spell Slots. Something to look at and be aware of. I know it's a lot of new rules, but it's an elegant system that is very enjoyable once you know the ropes.

You can see skills like perception while using controller when you go to the character menu, then proficiencies, and then there's a tab called skills that you can press and it'll list all skills and show characters individual scores for it!
