Love these videos! I have learned soooo much. I now gravitate directly to the guaranteed analysis and email the company for the dry matter basis numbers.

Great video as always. Thanks for the Shout Out! The mg per 100 kcals is good if the two foods being compared have a very different calorie count but it’s getting so hard to get that data anymore so sticking with dry matter.

I used to feed Go Solutions to my dogs. The puppy got puppy food the senior got the senior food. The senior dog seemed to do well on it. But, the puppy had loose bowels for 6 months. Once I switched dog food that is no longer an issue. Maybe it was the probiotics? No idea I just know that he has regular bowels now which is great and he's an adult now so that could attribute to it as well. What I did like was the bags. They are lined with a silver lining. It keeps the food away from the plastic bag and it was a nice thick construction. I still have a couple the empty bags and we use them for various things.

Thank you for this. I wish I saw this before i got my puppy as i had been up in the air what to get. So i have been feeding him Go grain free as was done by the breeder and he gave me ideas on what he else he does for his dogs so they get proper nutrients, (they seem to do well) but i been doing some research and I will slowly now transition to the coat and skin care duck with grain as the reviews on the go website were all positive. My dog does love the go dog food so i will stay with it You should do a video about your advice on feeding dog raw meat food if you haven't already.

My advice is to avoid raw due to public health concerns and health implications related to bacterial translocation in animals.

Based on the picture on the bag, I'd expect this to be a (large breed) adult dog food. I know large breed is not a life stage, so I have learned from you, but that's what I would expect them to market towards: adult dog, possibly large breeds :)

I've been feeding Now Fresh Good Gravy for a month. It's been a total game changer. My dogs love it. It's made by the same company as Go Solutions. It is overall the better food. Their nutrients stack up better than Go Solutions.

Question - do you know of any large breed puppy food that actually meets the recommendations for all the key nutrients? Maybe I missed something but between your videos and contacting companies directly for the dry matter analysis lists, I can't find a single one that falls in the recommended range for calcium for large breed puppies. Fat is also too high on every single food I've checked. Not as worried about that one but I'm shocked that I can't find any that are not too high on calcium.

I think it may not be exactly possible. The numbers I publish are the strictest ideal, because everyone always asked me about “the best”. The chapter 33 in SACN shows this strict numbers to prevent orthopedic disease but it may not be feasible in reality (cost prohibitive or just physically impossible). The regular chapter on growth suggested more moderate values for large breed puppy and those would also be a reasonable place to start.

Its not the grain inclusive vs grain free options that is a simplified misnomer designed to sway consumers one way to buy specific grain inclusive brands. The studies proved that specific ingredients triggered the absorption levels of taurine The ingredients being Potatoes/legumes/peas in high levels. I only state this specific difference between if you are simply doing grain free vs grain inclusive and not checking ingredients then you could be finding yourself with this issue because there are plenty of grain inclusive foods that will incorporate these ingredients, also these ingredients do not matter if there is not a substantial amount of quality taurine in the kibble. So i hate the generalization when saying it’s simply a grain inclusive vs grain free food. You could have a grain free food that has none of these specific ingredients that has a slow cooked low heat cooked heart and that will be multitudes better heart health than traditional grain inclusive foods. Just for clarity, I do feed grain inclusive, nothing against one food vs the other. Just wanted to give clarification to the general statement, which i am sure you know you just don’t have 20 minutes to go i to this tangent Love the channel tho ❤️

@@AnimalDocRea what if the vitamin E is very low 50. What does that means in terms about the ingredients?

@Line-i9m it doesn’t mean anything about the ingredients other than they do not have much vitamin E and didn’t add a vitamin pack

Are these "all life stage foods" often puppy food? I am just curious. From the picture on this package, I assumed it was an adult dog food. I used to feed the Go wet cat food to my cats, but it got way too expensive. Especially because Sir Picky Pants would only eat it about 1/2 the time I fed it to him.

This company basically copied Hill’s Hairball + urinary diet for cats but bragged that it was better because they used nice sounding ingredients. Their carnivore line is even worse when it comes to the mineral levels. They have insect based diets which is interesting to me. Knowing that they don’t do feeding trials, I’m hoping they purchase the insect from a company that already performed digestibility studies with certain inclusion levels.
