Go Fast - Get Messy! How to Speed Paint Conquest's BIG new Siegebreaker Behemoth in 2 Hrs!

Painting something in the "bio-horror" category is a departure for me, but getting into the guts of it was a fun change of pace. This new model from Parabellum has lots of big, defined details that work well with big drybrushes and aggressive washes.

Here's the basic list of steps & paints used:
1) Prime: Purple/Light Gray (doesn't really matter which ones, exactly)
2) Muscles: Vallejo Velvet Red (or Citadel Flesh Tearers Red) + Water Mister
3) Bone: Drybrush Pro-Acryl Red Gray, Bone, Ivory, then White
4) Paint Shadows: Citadel Drakenhof Nightshade Shade
5) Muscle Highlights: Pro-Acryl Red (or any bright, basic red)
6) Facemask: Turbodork Molten Mantle (over glossy black)

@@funTimesInTheSun Weird. I didn't realize that was a restriction. Just checked it out - it looks terrific! The greenish yellow cast on the "bone" works really well with the swampy base.

The eyes are great. And the viscera / slime trails at 26:28 are a genius idea.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the Uhu slime trick. I don't remember where I learned that, but it's been kicking around for a while. Uhu dries clear and is pretty viscous, which makes it good for this sort of thing.

It'd be a tough call to choose between this and the big Wadrhun dinosaurs, but this is a pretty terrific sculpt. It was fun enough to paint that it's got me fooling around with Spires lists...

I'm planning for a Phyrexian inspired color scheme, so your tutorial was spot on to give me ideas, huge thanks for that! I'd be curious to see your method applied to smaller members of the Spires, like the Avatara and the drones, any chance that's on your planning? :D

I'm also curious to try that. At the moment, I'm happily distracted by the new Sorcerer Kings models, but am curious to paint more Spires at some point. At some point, I'm just going to end up with an army for every faction...
