How close in to shore will bream come to feed, is it worth baiting up relatively close to the bank or only out deeper?

Used to go regularly in late 80's early 90's. Had my Car broken into in Dublin and my Van broken into on the Ferry. Gippo's target vehicles with English number plates. You cannot leave your vehicle unattended. Too much crime to go fishing here. Irish authorities don't do anything about it. Used to be a great place to fish but too much pollution now. Raw sewage is entering the Rivers after the massive home building program, when they joined the Euro. The Irish destroyed a natural resource. Not worth the journey now.

nearly impossible to catch a net of bream in ireland anymore, and you need to fish late evening and into the night

@@2pikeman Is there a large difference between bream fishing day versus night? In other words, if one wants to catch some larger specimens, is it essential to go fishing at night?

Only place I regularly caught tench was on the canal in Co. Meath. That was a few years ago mind, there might not be many fish left there now. Fish stocks in Ireland have been decimated by pollution and poaching.
