There are only eleven REAL triple crown winners. From Sir Barton up to Affirmed there was no point system in place to manipulate the fields. There is really only 11. Justify and American Pharoah had help from the industry by employing a point system which would have kept several past Kentucky Derby winners ineligible to run. That completely changed the triple crown in my opinion. The racing industry actually helped the favorites have a better chance to win the derby.....by modifying the field with a point system. They should go by money won....like it used to be.
