Had no problem connecting on my network...just make sure you have the app selected first then connect your thumb drive....after that I just leave the wc-1 in the keyboard... Definitely worth it!

Not crazy about the initial upfront cost of $100 for a dongle. Really not crazy about subscription services. Can I update the firmware of my device via USB cable and computer without needing this dongle? Great video btw👍

Yes you can! You connect a USB to a computer to begin with. The Dongle is not needed for firmware updates.

Keep in mind that it comes with a full year of Roland Cloud for that price, so it is essentially free.

Very informative video regarding the future expansion of this fine Roland Keyboard. I´ve got a question here: What happens after a year using the cloud connect? Do I lose all the extra effects and expansion packs or do I keep them since I already paid the 99 dollar cost of the USB dongle? If I decide not to renew the subscription service do I lose EVERYTHING I had ?

That's a great question. Just judging from how the dongle works, you need an active subscription to continue to access the content but as far as content stored on your machine at that point, I am unsure. Roland does state "You have to be online to initially authenticate the instruments, but after that you have thirty days before you need to be online again. " so I would imagine at some point the sounds and packs would stop working.

Does the Go Keys 3 have the same connectivity as the 5? The potential to make almost any type of track is immense. People are using this type of music for drone videos.

George - GK3 has only one USB for storage and WC-1 port GK5 has a dedicated WC1 port AND storage port. You can use all these styles and sounds on GK3 too tho.

The expansion stuff seems to reside on the dongle up to some extent but beyond the capacity, you have to save it or delete for more. Still working out the modalities. Perhaps someone else with more experience can chime in here.
