I love watching this YT channel, although I don't have/can't afford a Glimmer (or other hot foiling machine) & the dies & foils. So I do this vicariously thru Nancy❤

Thank you for doing this - This is the machine I have and yes - When I first got it and played with it, I had to use lots of shims too. We are in the process of packing up the house for a move. Probably in early October - but have to declutter to show house. So, the craft room is down to minimum. Needless to say the foil and foiling machines are not available right now. Once I am settled, I will get it out and play again. Thanks for sharing

Hello from Illinois, watching the replay. I missed the live cuz I was watching The Grey Man with my husband. I have the GoPress, and never noticed that it has suction cups,lol- but I don't have many foil plates, so it doesn't get used often. I didn't realize that you had a destash. I have been on leave for over a month, and not able to craft but it feels like forever. Happy crafting.

Sorry I missed the live. I was on bed. Woke up on the middle of the night and caught the replay. Great job teaching everyone the way to use the Go Press and Foil machine. I used it until I received the Gemini Foil Press as a Christmas Gift from my family. Anyway, great video and explanation!

Hi Nancy, that reminds me the firt time I watched your YB. You and another Californian Lady with your videos convinced me to search and buy a Gopress machine. I even bought a US plug one and had to figured out the electric transformer for it. I have two cover plates (one for the foil and cut dies and one for only foiling). I went through some frustration and I agree the paper makes a difference. I do not find the same paper as you here so I have to figure out at options in my area one of is Crafter Companions stamping paper. Regarding the Gopress, depending the plate thikness and also if the plate has a lot of plain areas, I usually leave 2 to 3 times heating times. Outside the big plates that came on the market recently, I have one with plain dots of Spellbinders that requires 3 heating times on the Gopres. One of my personal way to know, I put my sandwich on the plate, close the cover and when it feels very hot over the cover on my hands, I go over the cutting machine. My usual shims are one or two thin metal plates that can be also be used in cuting machines. Sometimes, I add another shim particularly when using the waste onto full plain plate. I did not get fully satisfying results on this plain plate with waste but did not insist too. Now I am a mixed-media girl so I can be satisfied with "grungy" look. I would advise to be carefull on the number of shim and particularly with the big thick Gopress plain plate. It curved a bit my plate that is still working fine, the platform where we put the dies is fine but it is now more difficult to put the plate on its base. So do not do my mistake. I agree with you this Gopress was the first one to come onto the market and the Glimmer arrived at least a year later and has been improved. This Gopress is a good machine and as you said requires some experiencing, some adjustments. Thanks for showing this machine again as it is still on the market in some countries much cheaper than the Glimmer.

Could you use photo paper, the shiny side?
@NancyStamps Жыл бұрын
No I don't recommend photo paper. It has a coating that can stick to your hot foil plates & machine.

Great video Nancy! I honestly tried everything I could to get the Erin Lee foil plate to work with no positive results:/ Still believe the sticky surface and thinner plate are the reason for no positive results. Will need to save up my crafty dollars for the Pink Fresh foil plate:) Thank you so much for everything you do to make FSC so great! FSC is the best group ever!

I have a Big Shot. what hot foil machine goes best with it? I have no other tools for hot foiling.
@NancyStamps2 жыл бұрын
GLIMMER or Go Press & Foil will work.
@ssmith9552 жыл бұрын
But doesn't the hot foil system show white on background and the toner sheets have to be black. So, if you want to color the paper, then it would be better with the white showing?? But I do get that the toner foiling is more forgiving when trying to get the perfect foiling

No, make it whatever you want. :)

Sorry I missed this live! I bought this machine when I first saw it - before the Glimmer was available. I've tried it off and on and had some success (due to your guidance, of course!) but have never really used it as much as I'd like to. Got some Hamilco finally but have been caught up in other crafting and haven't tried it. I actually just pulled it out the other day, determined to make it work. So happy this video popped up! (BTW, went to Crafty Critta to order some foil - and paper while I'm at it - and... the shipping was just as much as my $35 order! I live in Texas, not on Saturn, so no. I hate that shipping to and from Australia is so much). (Also P.S. I got the mini Minc at MorningSave, shipping is $8.99)

Michele once it converts from AUS to US $ it's cheaper and use code FSC05 for a discount.

Is there a hot foil machine thst works with the empress? Or should I consider adding another die cutting machine to my chaos?

I got this machine for free! It’s A long story! Now, I find I can’t afford the plates! I am in the hospital so I haven’t be en able to play with it!
@NancyStamps Жыл бұрын
Feel better Sonia. You can buy used plates from Ebay. They don't "go bad". Once you are on the mend you will get back to it.

So if you use CC hot toner foil and crafty Crittas toner papers can you use the same way you use the toner foil .?? I confused on this cause Nancy always says hot foil is different than toner foil. But I have CC plane paper and its so different then any other paper I've used for toner foiling. So I guess what I'm asking is CC hot foil and toner foil both can be used on CC colored toner paper/ cardstock and be used in the minc ??
@NancyStamps2 жыл бұрын
Any foil can be used on the toner sheets. The toner sheets heat up, melt and stick to the foil.

Just saying, there are different weights 110 lb cardstock. Index cardstock is about 65 lb and cover cardstock is more accurate to 110lb.
@NancyStamps2 жыл бұрын
Yes I never use Index or text. I am always referring to actual card stock. Index and text are more for traditional office work or printing. Card stock is for crafting.
