Hi Simon, fantastic video as always, thank you! I know I'm a little late to the party and I hope you see this comment. I was just wondering why you chose clear embossing powder instead of Rangers Sticky embossing powder? I purchased the sticky embossing powder and tried it once but I didn't get great results. I'm definitely going to give your method a try, looks fantastic! However I was wondering if you've tried the sticky embossing ink from Ranger; and if so how your experience was with it? Thanks so much.

FYI: If you can't afford a MINC or any other tool, don't give up. I use my old iron. Works just fine.

I totally didn't know you could use your heat embossing ink and clear embossing powder in this way! I have tons of toner foil and thought I'd never be able to use them all. This is fantastic! Thank you!

Me too... I have like 20 rolls of the foil and the minc, even bought a cheap laser printer to use with it, but had no idea I could use it with embossing powders!

@@Indiartworks I have discovered it is kinda hit and miss with my success. I did it the first time with great results. Tried it again on a different occasion and my results were less than stellar. But I probably just need to play more with it.

Yep....learned this technique many many years ago...but it's not always all that successful. Found this technique better to used as highlights on a stamped image, then if it doesn't quite work, it really doesn't matter! Think about it, if it worked really well all the time, then we wouldn't have the Glimmer type machines which really do a beautiful job.

I love your eye for composition Simon. All three cards are beautiful, but I chose the third card. The foiled florals dazzle while the split background really showcases them. This is awesome! I’m looking forward to trying this. On a side note, I use a Ranger mini rotary cutter. It folds up to protect you from the blade and barely takes up any space. I have two of them. One lives in my foil tote box and the other one is in my Foilpress tote bag.

Something that I find helps when laying card stock down on background stamp ( because I saw someone else do it) is to lay a scratch piece of paper on top and then apply pressure. It lessens the chance of the paper moving. After watching the entire video I think my favorite is still the first card, but it is so hard to choose. Thanks for the video.

@@marionking57 Hmm, I'm not sure. Are you using deco (not glimmer) foil, shiny side up? It worked for me with embossing powder. I've never had luck using bonding powder.

This is fantastic. Thank you thank you thank you. I went straight to my craft room and tried it - fabulous. I even put versa mark on a whole bit of card, embossed it and used the other bit of foil left over so I got both images. I love both the cards. It is too hard to choose. I also love the background stamp you used but postage to NZ is too expensive to buy from you sorry.☹️

Simon, Couture Creations has a blending tool with an even tinier pointed tip that works really well. Also take a look at the Olfa Rotary Cutter which is much safer and can lock closed with a fully enclosed blade. No chance mishaps when it's stored.

Thanks for both recommendations. I actually bought both an Olfa and this Cricut rotary and proffered the cricut. It does have an easy mechanism to lock the blade away… I just forgot to show that. :)

I love the idea of using a rotary cutter for foil, and your results are so good, but as I don't have a heat machine I should think I can get similar results using gold (or other metallic) ep as it is only the outline that is foiled? Thanks for the idea and I'll look out for a cheap laminator.

just an idea here, what if you put the foil on the stamp beforehand so you can pre cut the foil and pressing it against the stamp will let you know where to cut. I have never done this craft so I may be naive but this may help in the cutting process.

Thank you SO MUCH, Simon :-). Admittedly it is years (back in 2014 maybe) since I bought my Minc and experimented with it. Some house moves later and I am finally back here learning again. Helped by, first Spellbinder's Glimmer machine release and latterly Gina K's new foiler, my facination has returned. I would ask of you though to clarify if your use of foiling sheets here is those that require heat or will your tricks above work with those that require pressure (such as Gina K and Deco Foil released some years ago?) ? I am endeavouring to watch all video's using foil using various machines but perhaps my mind is beginning to spin a little :.-0 :-0 :-)

I really enjoyed seein ALL three cards. You gave a different style on each of them. I loved the use of the deckle trimmer and how you made it such a delicate mat. Question: do you have to use the minc or can a normal laminator be used? I'm so hoping I can use the normal kind. I love foils but have decided that due to the heavy cost I'm not going the hot foil route. I did find a minc on Amazon for $60ish.
