Go Press & Foil using (Gemini Foil press dies, ToDo Dies, & embossing folders)

Using the Gemini Foilpress dies & foil, ToDo dies & embossing folders in the Go Press & Foil machine & Big Shot machine. How does this machine compare to the Gemini FoilPress?

I like the fact that the Go Press has an attached plate. Loose plates could shift the card or foil as it's moved from the base to the big shot.

Thank you for a very informative video. I do have the Gemini foil and die cutting machines. I have the big Spellbinders Platinum machine which I use all the time for die cutting and Embossing and love it. The Todo I have too, but like you seldom use it as I find, that when Foiling, the plates too often slip and it double foils. I am thinking of giving it to the Charity shop. If I were you I would keep both machine since the Gemini cannot use the todo dies the todo have some beautiful dies. I have the big shot plus and that way I can have the best of both world

Stacey at ScrapbookingMadeSimple.com has some excellent video tutorials on the Go Press & Foil machine and she uses the Big Shot exclusively with excellent results. The Go Press & Foil works off of machine temperature as opposed to time on the plate at varying temps. With that said I'm impressed with your reviews and can see the advantages of the Gemini system. Thank you for sharing your results.

Oh Nancy I like this machine as it seems easier to work. I hated all the timing and all the problems with getting the heat right. This one was easy...mostly worked but for shimming...once you got the shims right it did good. It is easier to me being a senior...all those buttons and dials got me all messed up. I also have a big shot newer machine. How do I enter to maybe win. LOL. pat

I tried every way to get the Go Press and Foil to work. It was a disaster and I returned it. I will now try the Gemini Foil Press. Honestly, I don't have high expectations.

I have the minc machine. I used 2 or 3 times . Put in drawer and never used it again. Then got the go Press from HSN. Used it 2 times.put in box and never used it again. Brand new . I have a cuttlebug big shot plus , Gemini Jr and Gemini Go. The little one. I love my Gemini machines. I wanted the new Gemini Foil machine but didn't because I had just purchased the Gemini Go (little one) plus other stuff. This time I purchased a few things from HSN. I need a new credit card, lol. Otherwise I would have purchased that machine too. I would love to own a Gemini foul machine .

Brandi Keller crafter’s companion only recommends the Gemini or they will void your warranty. However, 4 sizzix cutting plates under the Gemini foil press will work. Do not use the standard sizzix platform.

FYI ... while I DO own a Cuttlebug, I have used my Go Press and Foil sandwiches in my Big Shot Plus with absolutely NO problems! A Cuttlebug is not the only die cutting machine you can use!

Yes, the Go Press is more versatile, I used it in my Big Kick. The Gemini foil press can only be used in the Gemini or it voids the warranty.

Don’t understand why you say it was developed for the Cuttlebug .. It was developed for the GoPress cutting machine but compatible with most machines that can take a steel rule die. Anna Griffin used it with her Cuttlebug but the Cuttlebug is made by Provocraft (Cricut) . Spellbinders machine like the GoPress can be used in other machines but the Gemini was developed for the Gemini machines that won’t cut steel rule dies. I think you’ll find that the GoPress is just as good but you need to get your shims right.

Yes I believe it would be the same process. Just have to work on the timing and sandwich.

@@cindybearj it's basically just a shim. It's a magnetic shim to hold the dies when going through for die cutting. I think if you have enough shims you will be fine.

Are those guys designed just for falling or are they your typical standard embossing and cutting dies?

You can use regular dies or "stamp& foil" hot dies. They are made for foiling. They do not cut.

@@NancyStamps is there any preparation to the paper before foiling ?do you have to apply any adhesive or anything like that or is the Foyle just self sticking? I ask because I've seen videos where they use pre printed toner sheets in order for the foil to stick.

@@bluetech7753 there are 2 techniques for foiling : one that works with toner and to have the foil adhere to the toner you need a Minc or laminator. Then you have the heat that activate the foil with a die (different foil from the one activated by toner) for that technique you need the Gopress, the Gemini foil press of the Spellbinders Glimmer machine.

Hi, I have the crafters companion Gemini die cut machines. I really did a number on the plates for my last large project. Does anyone know tricks too straighten the plates. I already tried flipping and rotating while running it through the machine. I even left them in my machine overnight. Nothing really works. Do I have to good and get new? They are so expensive.

When you cut your dies, cut side up instead of down. If they are warped they can be flattened by flipping, but it takes awhile. Might want to invest in new plates.

@@NancyStamps yes probably. I already tried that. Making wedding invitations and I ran into problems getting the Geminis to cut through all the way even after feeding through twice. I think it's because I used 110lb paper. Even the Papa Gemini couldn't cut through consistently. I'll never use that weight again, although it is really nice for paper.

I have had my Go Press & Foil for some time now. And I like it a lot. I will not get the Gemini because one hot press tool is enough. Just a sugestion. Watch a video from Scrapbooking Made Simple. # 266 that tells you all the do's and don'ts with the Go Press & Foil. BTW I run it through my Sizzix Big shot plus and/or my Cuttlebug. I have a blog on Facebook called "My Crafty Blog" Where you will find some samples of cards I have made with the Go-Press and Foil.

I use this machine a lot and I have to correct you when using an emboss folder you should not have the Gopress lid on. You should have it go through with lid open and the cutting machine plate on top. No timer indeed but it is just a matter of getting used of it and sometime wait 2 times « green ».depending the thickness of the plate. No need of cuttlebug. Couture créations did it for their own cutting machine but it adjust to all manual cutting machines (bigshot, big kick, Platimium..) Gopress has now issued a replacing lid, a thick metal plate to allow a nice cut and foil. And YOU CAN cut with this lid as they have issued a replacing one. When I cut and foil I have the Gopress running through my bigshot. Yes I agree there is need of shims depending on the cutting machine.we own. That’s the advantage of this machine no need to buy specific cutting machine, we can use what we have outside the Gemini. I needed to rectify because it does great foiling if time to discover how to use it is taken by the crafter.
