One of the most iconic tags ever!! It was fun to record this in 2022! It has been almost 15 years since it was originally recorded by my quartet, 2006 International BHS Quartet Champions, Vocal Spectrum! Go The Distance was arranged by one of my favorite arrangers, Aaron Dale! This has to be one of the most requested songs we sing...and we still sing it on almost every show!
Check out my Patreon Community: / timwaurick
Please subscribe, like and share! And please comment to give me your thoughts on this tag and suggestions on future videos! www.youtube.com...
I'm also on TikTok: / timwaurick
This tag was a collaboration with George Collier who does really cool transcription videos. Check out his channel: / georgecollier
More TimTags will be coming every Tuesday!! I appreciate the amazing support these tags have received! A lot more content to come!
Learning tracks & the full mix for this entire song are available at www.timtracks.com where I have learning tracks for over 1,300 songs!

Something a non-musician might not realize about that looooong sustained note...when you're holding it -- either as a wind player or vocalist -- it takes a huge amount of discipline to not adjust your pitch when it's against something only half a step off....the resulting dissonance can really throw you. The tendency would be to adjust your pitch to match the one next to you to eliminate the dissonance....but that destroys the intent of the chord structure. So major props to Tim for holding that pitch so firmly. It's easier to make that adjustment vocally, and he's also going against his own voice, which make it that much harder.
@TimWaurickMusic
@TimWaurickMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Sam!! I appreciate you noticing and pointing that out. And it's funny, I actually like holding the sustained note out last so I can hear the parts around me. Thanks again!
@samsignorelli
@samsignorelli 2 жыл бұрын
@@TimWaurickMusic I was a brass musician for many years...I remember having difficulty with holding a note in a dissonance early on! Dissonance -- like white noise -- has it's place in music...but it needs to be performed correctly.

This brings back some PHENOMENAL memories! Vocal Spectrum came to UW - Oshkosh here in Wisconsin years ago, and even though you were either just getting over laryngitis/just beginning to get it, after the show when I wanted to sing this song with all of you, you agreed to do so. I filled in on the baritone and you still crushed the post and it meant the world to me that you four were not too tired/elite to perform this song with me and I wanted to thank you all for such kindness as it made my week. I will never forget that.
@TimWaurickMusic

Thanks so much, Michael!! I remember this well...and I remember singing it with you. You did a great job! I actually was dealing with the cold/laryngitis that started my vocal paralysis. It was a scary time, but thankful to have gone through it...and so awesome to sing that with you back then. I hope we can do it again soon!

Hello Tim. I'm Japanese, and I'm not very good at reading, writing, or listening to English, and I write this sentence using a translation site. I'm sorry if it's a strange sentence. I just wanted to die. Even if I listened to my favorite music or ate what I liked, my heart wasn't clear and I was always suffering from myself. I wondered what to do, but I couldn't get an answer, and I really hated myself because I couldn't move forward. But now, I was impressed to see this video of you. Your wonderfully clear, beautiful and beautiful singing voice seemed to gently wrap my heart, and I felt very warm. When I noticed, I was full of tears. There was something so beautiful. I can live. Thank you, Tim. You are my salvation. May your future life be full of happiness.

Wow. I... Just, WOW! A 40+ second sustained note, high in the register, with volume and tone control. That's super-human! And then to finish with that MASSIVELY wide open power chord *AND* to hold each note with dead on precision until lifting off with a small vibrato flourish?! Bravo, sir. Quite literally awesome!
