I believe it's open on both sides intentionally to reduce condensation. Remember, this isn't a camping tent, it's for a survival situation.

$20 is too pricey for a one time use. I'll just stick to the Ozark Trail tents which are of higher quality but the same price.

You can partly close it up with strips of tape. Just leave some openings for condensation and so you can breathe. It will cut the wind and rain and retain more heat.

Why couldnt it be reused.. matbe as a blanket like you said but many times or the fabric repurposed or donated to someone who would repurpose its nice not to be wasteful disrespecting our environment even when it cones to emergencies wherever possible

Thanks for the video. I just purchased one to keep in my car just in case. Based on your video, I will buy one for my son and husband too. We live up in Northern Wisconsin where you might be the only car on that back road for only 5-10 minutes, or see no other cars for hours. You just never know. Best to be prepared!
