Thanks for the videos. I’m doing 10 acres of clearfields this year and came up with my strategy by watching your videos about 1,000 times haha. I also learned some from David Hodges and his videos. Planted 2 acres yesterday and planting the remaining 8 in 2-3 weeks. Going to stagger them a bit to have seed down for a longer period of time. Thanks for the videos! Much appreciated

Adam Great thinking!! that should work perfect!! also if you can put up a wire for them to sit on about 12ft tall or higher to keep the birds around and closer to the food that helps a lot!!

@@dibs92365 we actually just installed six 30’ power poles buried 5 feet deep so they’re 25’ high to the tallest wire and have two rows of wires. I was able to find used power poles from a local power company for .80 cents a foot. Cheap! Just need a big trailer and you have to load them yourselves. I was also able to acquire used fiber optic cable from a local telephone company and it’s perfect. Looks just like a real power line. We installed 450 yards of the fake power line through the center of the 10 acre field. It’s pretty sweet!

Cool, I sprayed on the 20th. I checked it today and all the weeds are turning nice and yellow. I'm thinking that by May 6th everything should be nice and brown so I'll plan on mowing sometime between the 7th and 14th. I'd like to plant around the week of the 21st of May. I'm doing a mix of browntop and dove proso again this year. The maturity rate are from 60 to 75 days. That should give me about 3 weeks prior to opening day. I bought the millet yesterday and it cost me double what I paid last year. I was shocked to say the least. Good luck with the field. Of course I'll be watching.

Your timing should be great with the Millet! If you caught it, I am sliding my millet planting back too. There was seed around for the opener, but there could have been a little more if I had waited to plant. Thanks as always for following along!

Great videos. getting ready to plant about 8 acres of clearfields myself here in NC. switching it up some this year, going with prowl h20 for pre instead of treflan. Got cadre, clethodim, and nitro-surf for post. I've actually never sprayed mine post emerge other than roundup around mid-august so looking forward to a much cleaner field this year. and luckily fertilizer prices have come down significantly since last year. Good luck with your field.

I'm about to get started myself. Can't wait to see your videos again this year. I'm gonna do my field series again as well. Dad has already sprayed. It's burned down good. We just waiting for it to get dry so we can till it up. Is there any way to contact you directly? I'd like to trade secrets and compare results as the season goes on.

We are pushing off planting too due to wet conditions. Absolute down pours this week, just too wet. Right now shooting for Sunday or Monday if the weather holds. Touch later than I like but should be fine. Shoot me an email tjmoore74@gmail.com

I purchase online at Keystone Pest Solutions and locally at Crop Production Services (CPS). CPS is usually a little cheaper but you pay tax. I just price check each year before purchasing

Was wondering if you could give me the type fencing you used for your field, and how it was laid out

Will be doing another video on the fencing this year since we upgraded to permanent wooden posts. In short, used the braided line from Tractor Supply, insulators and metal "T" posts. Spaced about 20' apart and ran two hot rows down low and ran a third tall row that was not hot. Hard to explain in a comment but stay tuned! Will do that video soon

Here in KY, we had a perfect day last wednesday to spray down our field. Doing right at 1 acre of Clearfield Sunflowers. The field is bordered to the west with a lake and a tree line between. A gravel road and another tree line to the east. A power line down the middle. A pasture that has never been farmed before. Gonna have some rocks to deal with but Planning on no-till planting the week after Derby. Ten do all the additional steps you outlined in last years videos. Gonna wrap it in electric tape to keep the deer out. A tip an old forend gave me is to coat the tape with peanut butter to pull the does in with their fawns and shock the snott out of the does early and they in turn teach their fawns to stay clear of the tape.

In your experience, how many days ahead of your hunt are you wanting your sunflowers to have been matured?
