As a 9 year old this world cup was mesmerising. Maradona, Brazil, The stadiums, England doing well, home nations qualified, BBC coverage, Nessun Dorma, Roger Milla... ...the list goes on. 👍

Yep, I was only 6 and a half but have vivid fond memories of Nessun Dorma, maradona, Gazza, Ruud Gullit, Cameroon and lots more. Of course, who could forget ‘World in Motion!’ 😆

Maradona's brilliant pass and the sight of half the Brazilian team chasing back in vain is something I remember very well. Brazil hit the post about 3 times in that game, but went out... Nice to Sir Bobby Robson's little dance as well. What a gentleman.

My favourite is canniggia's. That bit of play by Maradonna to set it up was world class. You could see the change of pace by him from midfield as the Brazillians started to panic and were all drawn to Maradonna who kept his balance beautifully and threaded an inch perfect ball through the defenders legs to Caniggia who took it very well.

With picture quality like that, it's a good job I watched every single one of those games and remember every single one of those goals. Back in the days when strikers took the ball around the keeper. Branco to Careca was beautiful, Maradona to Caniggia was heartbreaking, Schillaci on for Ancelotti was a master stroke. Half of those countries no longer exist. Back in the day....

I think the ones by Salvatore Schillacci, Jozic, David Platt and Ruud Gullit were the best from that tournament. And this video did not show the complete play untill the pass by Diego Maradona - he went past 4 Brazilian defenders to set up Claudio Caniggia. LOve this track !

Classic tune by Adamski and Seal (Killer) to accompany this goals collection from the World Cup. 1990 was a great year to begin what was a great decade. Is it just me or was the world during the 90's (and prior in the 70's & 80's) a much better place than it is now? It just seems to have nosedived off a cliff since the turn of the century. 9-11 didn't help shortly after cos it set the tone.

Yes 70 and 80s were a more innocent time, people didn't know what garbage was out there and were less cynical. 90s were a brilliant optimistic time, cold war was over and the internet was new with a implied promise of more informed better future
