I have a 3000, no x. Bought it from Goal Zero during their 2019 Memorial Day sale. Unit cost $2300, normally about $3100. Works well, but I prefer the smaller units, I have a 500x, and looking to get another one. I figure $800 would be a fair price to sell the 3000. If you're interested, let me know. Another great vid! What does the on/off do the in the middle of the AUXBEAM red circle do? Can you turn the back lighting off on the aux beam the green light? great simple set up liking it.....you have thought a lot about this. Solid 🎯🎯

The on/off button?? You’ve guessed it ha ha. It kills all 8 at once. You can change colour and brightness. I will see how low it goes tomorrow and message again. 👍🏻 Thanks for your compliments. Means a lot as I spend ALOT of time planning in my head when I should be sleeping ha.

@@urbanarkoverland right I guess an overall on/off is good. I presume the AUXBEAM has a constant draw of power or maybe that on/off kills that draw? There is not much info on the auxbeam site. The video series is great keep them coming, nice to see UK build in the see of US builds out there.

@@aclarke9479 yeah the off will kill it all. When my panel is on but all the switches are in the off position. It jumps between 0 and 1 watt draw. . So barely anything

Might be stupid of me but . . . As you're "trying to simplify camping" I wonder if there could be a way to utilise the Auxbeam switch panel to control a 12v relay to automatically switch the mains plugs in the cupboard you have to swap . It would be nice to be able to do it from your phone/tablet no ? It would help the stupid forgetful and lazy people like me too LOL . Personally I lay the blame for my laziness entirely at the feet of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi . Saying that everything is better with wireless control LOL . This van is look sweet so far bud can't wait to see the finished product . Fattrucker

I can turn the 240 on or off via goal zero app. Saves pressing the button. I thought of many simple ways to change over etc. have a two way switch that I used in last van. Like a bypass. But I WANT it to be a fact to do. So it’s not done by accident etc. 👍🏻😂

Great idea. I was planning to set up a Victron system, but I have just ordered GZ 3000X, as it will fit my needs. One question, how do you ground the 12v system? Is there a connection from the fuse board to the chassis?

No mate. If you are using b2b. That will ground it.

Smart thinking like that system as have the fuse on build in. I have a garmin power switch, that is controlled with phone or overland satnav. But 2 things miss a actual real life switch and the tidy fuse box area to a single point instead of inline ones. Anyway nice thanks for that 👍🏼

In my experience the controller you got for your planer 2D is crap, my one broke in less than 3 months, it starts freezing, then non responsive, then just dead, its a pain because you have to pull the fuse to switch the heater off, it’s a known issue so I upgraded to the autoterm comfort controller as soon as it came out and have had no issues in 6 months so far. it’s a game changer, way more functions and means you get the best out of your heater. In your case though might as well use it until it breaks before upgrading since you have one that works 👍

Can I ask, why couldn't you just plug the shore power lead via a 3 pin plug adaptor into the 240v ac and power the van via that way.

Like an extension lead??? Because it needs to be rcd protected. You can buy hookup leads that have little built in rcd’s 👍🏻

Those control panels are great, my ambulance has a version with 2 X 10 switch units and 30 odd relays to control everything from a central location, very very handy 👍 no app though ☹️ The van is looking really cool chap 😎

Yeah that’s a thought. The goal zero and therefore the inverter is controlled via Bluetooth as well. So could turn on and just set a timer on phone I guess. To turn off. So t need to physically touch anything from that point 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for this! You've got me pretty sold on a the goal zero for my van build. Something that I am having a hard time finding on their website (even after chatting in to support), however is whether it's ok to run multiple charge inputs into the Goal Zero at the same time. Meaning, can I be charging with the b2b and solar at the same time? Or the wall charge and solar at the same time? Thanks!

I saw a video somewhere and it said it will only take one at a time. Maybe the most powerful. You will do well to charge from 240 and drive at same time ha ha

And what I mean by that is. The goal zero will do it all. You don’t have to unplug solar is going for a drive. I think it takes the lightest input 👍🏻

@@urbanarkoverland What amperage is the alternator on your rig? We upgraded ours to 250 amp and I am worried the Yeti Link wont be able to handle that input. The stock cables definitely seem too small. What gauge wire did you run from your starter battery to your mechanical fuse board?
