Super useful review, goes right to the points you should know.

Very Helpful. I bought this specifically to take on trips with my kids so they can charge their devices while on long car or plane rides. I also wanted something we could take camping and backpacking. Cheers

Even if the port is open, it remains waterproof. I asked customer support. Edit: Email conversation: Hello, What is the IP rating of the Venture 75 with the waterproof plug open. Response: Great question! The Venture 75 is still rated at IP67 even with the plug open. Those ports are waterproof. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Brandon Solutions Center Representative

So here is some crazy conflicting information. The tech rep from Goal Zero with initials E.S. stated that it does require the silicone cover to be waterproof/water resistant. He stated that it was due to the Type C port that they were not able to make it waterproof without a cover. So, I would not risk it. I will present the conflicting information to GZ and see what they say. Thank you for posting. I want to know this stuff myself and I'm sure everyone else appreciates your question. Mahalo 🤙

I actually checked the product pages of the old Venture 30 and Venture 70 and have to correct my statement below. The Venture 30 was rated IPX6 but the venture 70 was rated IP67. That means the Venture 70 was as dust and water proof as the new Venture 35 and 75 without rubber cover. Also, according to Goal Zero support Q&A on their website, the Venture 35 (and probably 75) need the rubber cover to be on to have the IP67 waterproof rating. "the The Venture 35's waterproof rating only applies when the rubber cover is protecting its output ports. This goes the same for the previous gen Venture 30 when its "wrap around" USB cable is removed." It's unclear whether Venture 35 and 75 maintain at least some degree of waterproofness when the cover is off. They remain high-quality power banks but it is disappointing that they require the cover to achieve the IP67 rating. As already mentioned in the video, the Venture 30 and 70 were advertised as being waterproof without requiring a port cover like many other competitors' power banks on the market and they were unable to do the same for the new versions.

I've been trying to find out the answer to this as well. From what I can find, which isn't much, I think they added the cover for added protection against dust and debris. But again can actually find anywhere exactly if that is true. Really would be nice to know if I'm charging and it starts to rain nothing will get ruined

Thanks for the video! Will this charge a MacBook Pro?
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
It likely would but could only provide a max charge rate of 65watts. The pro can use all the way up to 100watts.
@shawnalexander56612 жыл бұрын
I wasn't actually sure what u meant when u said it would charge faster with 60 watt input. Does that require a special cable or Something that produces 60 watts, can u please explain.
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
It would require a charger that can output 60-100 watts to USB.

Thank you for the informative video. Is there an 8mm to USB adapter that will allow Nomad 20 users to charge using the higher wattage?
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
There is one device by XTAR called the EU4S. It takes an 8mm dc input and converts it into 4 USB ports. I tried it today with my Nomad 20 and it did work but I wouldn't recommend it because it seemed to only do 12-13 watts. It is more designed for a 100 watt solar panel. I made a review about the solar panels that XTAR came out with, SP100, and bought it together with that. Check out the video and if you like the panels, use my codes to support. Thanks.

Thanks for the info!!! I was going to pair this unit with the nomad 20, but from what I understand it wont be able to maximize what the nomad 20 can put out? Which solar panel would you suggest? The 10?

Hi there! Thanks for the review. I just got the unit. I find this a little bit confusing. Can I charge the unit with a Iphone wall charger cube (USB-A) or a MAC wall charger (USB-C)? Thanks a lot Maxime
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
You can charge with either. Just the input on the venture is type c only. If your type-a iPhone charger is the small 5 watt cube, it will take forever to charge. You probably want to charge with 20+ watts to keep charge times manageable.
@Warthing14712 жыл бұрын
@@ilinauf Thanks for the very fast answer. Now the unit is plugged to my Xbox to charge. So you are telling me to plug the unit in the wall with the Mac adaptor (USB-C output at 30w) to charge quicker? I just don't want to break the unit =) Thanks a lot, Maxime
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
@@Warthing1471 it takes a charge up to 60 watts so 30 is babying the unit. I charge with a 65 watt Anker everytime. It's designed to handle it.

Really useful and meaningful video, thanks a lot 🙏🏻 Do you think it’d work if I’d make an adapter from that barrel Jack to usb-c? Would it allow me to potentially get 20W from Nomad 20?
@ilinauf2 жыл бұрын
I don’t really think so. I tried an adapter that I had from XTAR and it required a 100 watt solar panel to push through the usb c. Maybe Goal Zero can make something to better utilize the power from the smaller solar panels.
@labrador773 жыл бұрын
The old Venture were IPX6 while the new ones are IP67. The transparent cover might actually get them the 6 rating against dust which the old Venture 30 and 70 were missing. I have to say I don't like that plastic cover either.

USB C to USC C solar panel connection it takes all the power from a 50-60 watt panel.
@ilinauf Жыл бұрын
It would likely take all that it could give. The highest output I've heard of so far was 45 out.
@GillesQuennevilleGQ Жыл бұрын
@@ilinauf Depend what solar panel you use. If you use a Goal Zero Nomad 50 watt solar panel , 45 is very good. But you can use a 60 watt solar panel with more than 45.
@ilinauf Жыл бұрын
@@GillesQuennevilleGQ I own three of the goal zero nomad 100s and the most they output to their 1 USB type-A is 10 watts max by Goal Zero's own design. I also own 2 Nomad 28's, the newer Nomad 20. All three of those output max of 10 watts. So no dice with Goal Zero USB in the solar panel already.
@GillesQuennevilleGQ Жыл бұрын
@@ilinauf I said a solar panel with a USB C output to USB C input in the Venture. Of course USB does not have enough throughput power.
@ilinauf Жыл бұрын
@@GillesQuennevilleGQ I understand. I was just referring to the Nomad 50 part of your reply. I did also reply to your first message that it would be able to take "all that it could give"from a type-c output but the highest I've heard of on a solar panel that has type-c was regulated to 45 watts regardless. So yes your right, but I hope you are understanding what reply I'm intending. Thanks for the feedback. Aloha 🤙

This is insane. I have the venture 35 and it charges all the way up in twice that time. Don't understand why. Should have got this instead honestly. Live and learn right. Edit Wow the Sherpa seems even better. Damn I really need to do my research. Indeed I need more power that's all. I got two phones I use all day. Thank you for this review. I learned over the summer on the road that I use a lot of energy for my small devices. Or at least, all of my small devices need charged at the end of the day. Period. Never an issue at home where I have 900 wall outlets. Big issues when I got on the road this summer. Unsure if I need a better panel or bank or probably both, but at least I do use the nomad 10 panel right now for energy.

This one is made to be extremely tough but if you need more power, Anker is making great powerbanks

Indeed goal zero seem overpriced but it is quality and works to specifications, unlike 90% of the cheap unknown brands out there that charge a few times well then perform well under specifications. So many power banks have poor power management and a high rate of degradation, one takes a big risk relying on these when away from home not mention harming devices due to poor power loads.
