Goalie Cam: 1st Time in the CCM Premier Chest Protector, Pants, & Tacks Skates!!

I know many of you have been waiting for this moment, and so was I! This was the first skate in my brand new CCM Premier chesty and pants (2017 versions) and the CCM Tacks Skates. I LOVE every bit of this gear! I actually got in a drop-in for about 30 minutes the day before where I got to adjust some straps, but I had to get the skates resharpened. Fortunately this time out I had a far more successful time, and got to play hockey with some good friends as they prepare to head to Toronto for the Hockey North America championships. Enjoy!

Let us know if you feel shots through the chesty, especially in the arm/bicep area. I have the previous model CCM Premier Pro chesty, and shots to the bicep and upper arm HURT. Its the only complaint I have.

None whatsoever so far! The arms of the new Premier are quite different than the old, though. I'll let you know if anything goes awry!

Hey man! Love your videos. I’m considering buying a CCM premier pro chest protector, but I’m unsure if i need a pro level chesty. I play beer league 2-3 times a week. Sometimes i help out on the higher skill-level teams. Should i buy a R1.9 or the pro version ? I read that the R1.9 has awfull belly protection

I've rewatched him falling 20 times. Is ccm your favorite brand? and how do you do your pad straps?

LOL CCM is definitely a brand I really like, but I've tried several others. I no longer wear the Premiers, though, so outside of looking back at my review video, I'm not sure how I used to wear them. I now wear EFlex3s with a very different strapping setup.

I did show them in the unboxing and I've worn them in one game video so far, but I haven't yet reviewed them. I need quite a few more skates before I can do that.

LOVE the skates. To be honest, I'm most surprised by them. They're a whole size less than I'm used to, and I was very worried about the initial foot pain we all go through with new skates. But these are SO COMFY! My feet have felt great in them, and they're way more responsive than my last skates since they're the right size. I'm still getting used to feeling the ice on slides (you can feel it through the side since there's no cowling), but otherwise they're fantastic!

What is better a +1 or a +2 leg pad?

That's completely preference and depends entirely on how well you move and whether that'd be too big for you. I recommend +1" for most goalies.

Absolutely! This chesty is fantastic for that. As you can see, several that hit me in the chest and arms were swallowed up easily. I don't think a single puck that hit the chest went back out. Love it!
