Gons is referred to as Teias de Aranha which translates to ‘cobweb’ in Portuguese due to its appearance. Goan Gons (Cocada/Kokada) has been a recipe I have wanted to upload ever since I started filming videos. I just didn’t get the right coconut (adsar) and when I did, it wasn’t Christmas season 🤭 However, I got 2 just in time for this year and I could not be happier. This recipe needs time to cook, but once it reaches the ‘setting’ stage, you must make haste or have an additional set of hands to get the gons onto the papers because the sugar crystallises quickly. Back when I was little, I remember the hot vessel with the ready gons would be placed in the centre of the table and we’d all circle around it with spoons and forks to get to work and place it on squares of coloured paper :) All in all, it’s a fun recipe and sure to be a favourite ❤️
