An Authentic and Traditional Goan Sardine curry also known as jeerem Meerem or amsol
Ingredients:
Onion 1 small
Green Chillies 5nos
Garlic Cloves 5nos
Ginger ½" size
Peppercorn 6nos
Cinnamon ½" size
Cloves 4nos
Tamarind ½" size ball
Turmeric ¼ tsp
Cummins ½ tsp
grind all ingredients to a fine paste
HOW TO :
°Sardines 8-10 wash, clean, apply salt and keep aside.
°crush, 2 garlic cloves, ½" cinnamon, ½" ginger & 4 cloves
°Heat oil in a pan
°add crushed ingredients and sauté for 2mins on medium heat
°add 1 medium onion finely chopped and sauté until translucent and light brown.
°add 1 medium size tomato chopped and sauté until the tomato is soft and mushy.
°add the curry paste prepared earlier and cook until the paste starts to thicken and releases oil.
°add 1 cup water, check for consistency and add more water if required,
°cover and bring it to boil.
°add sardines and add salt to taste.
°add 1green chilli slitted (optional) simmer on medium heat until fish is cooked.
