What if we lax the rules enough to let Ojamas play King and Knight as Zone stuff? I just want to see the closest Yugioh can get to chess. So here's the thing, I do really enjoy Goat Format, I think it's an interesting change of pace and has a different playstyle from modern Yugioh (which is still fun and valid). I would like to see more of it in general, but I wouldn't want you to do it if it bores you. I thought this video was a lot of fun, I'm not a huge fan of MBT but that's whatever, that's a personal thing, so long as you're having fun I would love to see more Goat but if you don't enjoy it as much as regular Yugioh, my vested interest in Goat will not overcome my displeasure of seeing you forced to do things you don't want to do. It'd be nice if there were more Goat-focused content creators I guess is what I'm getting at.

Disgraceful Charity is an anime card, not a real one. Sangan cannot miss timing because his effect is mandatory; even though older prints have "When" on them, only "When" optional effects could ever miss timing. Modern cards only have optional effects following When to make this less confusing.

Goat Format is basically 2004 Format, there were no Links, Pendulum, XYZ, or Synchros and revolved around cards that were released in 2004 and below. Most notably was Scapegoat/Metamorphosis as the lucksack combo from that time to where the name comes from.

An interesting way to do Goat Format would be like Goat without the like 3 best decks Chaos, the actual GOAT Deck, and Zoo Beatdown just to see what that would be like, but my favorite format is 2009 not sure exactly what month but when Card of Safe Return was legal with Synchro Zombos, and also early Xyz format

Was this the DBC you were afraid it was too boring? It was fantastic regarding commentary (great chemistry between you two) and the fact that the games were slow and sacky on who top-decked first shows how Goat format was really dull back in the day. Not every duel has to be flashy and pretty, sometimes a nobleman crossout negated by big shield gardna is the best tech of the match

I personally don't care for goats because its slow and much too cookie cutter power cards that even make a power struggle less fun to take part in. I may be insane for saying this but I think yugioh's over-the-top take no prisoners inherently costless design actually makes the game more fun and diverse, for which magic and pokemon fall short in balancing their games

I think goat format is interesting but this video does show one major flaw in the format which is the uninteractive unfun cards that make your opponent discard cards or just all the powerful one offs that are really frustrating to see like heavy storm and pot of greed.

dbc where you play with reshef of destruction type advantage rules would be interesting. That was If one of the monsters battling has a type advantage against the other, the one with a disadvantage is detroyed before damage calculation regardless of battle positions. FIRE>Plant>WIND>EARTH>Thunder>WATER>FIRE (where X>Y means X beats Y) and also DARK>LIGHT>Fiend>Fairy>DARK. DIVINE/ Rituals ignore all this. It's not a perfect translation, since they had additional attributes in that game of FOREST, THUNDER, FIEND and DREAM, which i imagine you can work out what's been replaced with what monster type.

I’m a Defense Points apologist. We can all agree that 90% of the time, Defense Points and even the Defense Position doesn’t really matter. Most Flip monsters aren’t very good right now, and monsters with powerful effects nowadays almost exclusively have more ATK than DEF, especially Link monsters. BUT- I think that how the Defense Position allows a player to set up monsters that won’t cost them LP if they are destroyed in battle is an interesting and relevant mechanic. There is an easy fix: Change the rules so you can Normal Summon monsters in Defense Position.

Reversal Quiz huh. I never really knew this card's effect. However, since his strategy was pretty much just all draw spell cards minus his win condition, wouldn't it have been quicker to, like, Cyber-Stein into Blue-Eyes Ultimate, reversal quiz and swing for game? I guess using the black pendant to deal the last 500 hits is a safer approach? It's definitely an interesting spell however if you have an all spell, all traps or all monsters deck.

Goat can be fun, but can also very frustrating. It's basically just a back and forth of resources and trying to get those +1 plays while beating down on your opponent. I myself prefer archetype Yugioh over Goat though.

I think the only thing I dislike about old yugioh/goat format, is that people who played competitive made decks with the same 23 cards with only some variation between decks. It can make playing seem very repetitive/predictable

I'm very impressed by how little either of you know about goat control. =/ It's big difference from other previous formats was that it prioritised effect monsters over bigger beatsticks and controlled the board and resources with weak attack monsters with game breaking effects. Case in point: magician of faith, magical merchant, spirit reaper, Don Zaloog,and sangan with spells being delinquent duo, confiscation, and metamorphosis/scapegoat. It also slowed the tempo considerably and usually whomever played metamorphosis last won the game.... Know your facts. XD fun fact? Smashing ground was $10!

Disgraceful Charity's effect in the Anime/Manga: When you would discard card(s) from the effect of a Spell card, you can add the discarded card(s) back to your hand. Not sure what the real life version does.
