I use lard or tallow in my soaps. Makes for a beautiful soap bar. I don’t pander to the masses. I just create clean well made soaps. People can choose to buy or not.

Thanks for sharing your recipe, it looks good. I will be using lard instead of palm oil, so I need to change the lye to 4.59 oz and water to 10.35 oz?
@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 Жыл бұрын
Yes! You can always double check that by running the recipe through a lye calculator too!

Definitely going to be making this soap. I have this fragrance oil and I compared it to Dr Squatch (on the shelf) and they do smell just alike. I love goats milk soap and dupes all around are just so much fun. Thanks for sharing!

can i swap coconut milk for the goat milk and freeze that
@theeverydayfarmhouse872211 ай бұрын
I have never tried coconut milk, I don't know if you would need to freeze it as I'm not sure if it heats up with lye. Always run the recipe through a lye calculator if you make any changes.

I never knew soap "cured". What happens during curing?
@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 Жыл бұрын
The water evaporates out of the bars, allowing it to dry more, this extends the life of the bar of soap, you don't want a super soft bar that just melts away in the shower or bath. If you don't cure it, saponification may also not be fully complete and the soap could be lye heavy.

I’ve heard we can speed up the curing process by placing in the oven on lowest temperature overnight. Have u heard this before?
@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 Жыл бұрын
I understand that this can ensure that it goes through gel phase. The curing process allows the soap to dry making it a harder bar that lasts longer in the shower and doesn't just melt away quickly.

I believe it's pre heat the oven. Then turn it off. Leave soap in over night.

I think people forget that baby goats (kids) become adult goats that eat ANYTHING 😜 They are a challenge and quite frankly stink to high heaven. Honestly, I don't feel too much difference between soap I just add sugar to and what I add any kind of milk to.

I was taught to add salt (& sometimes sugar) to water, stir until dissolved, then freeze. After completely frozen, add NaOH gradually. I didn't know salt can be added to frozen milk, then NaOH is added.
@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, perhaps there is something to that. I was taught to add it after, I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not.

Why would you want to copycat that recipe? Squatch isn't bad, but it is inferior to my recipe. Be original instead.

@@KathleenEdgeexactly. Plus, it's a starter or base recipe. You make it and change what you want to change. I used free online recipes to build my recipes because I didn't understand percentages, but I knew what I wanted in the soap.
