I made goat water today for the first time using your recipe. It came out perfect!! My hand was a little too heavy with the hot seasoning, but other than that, perfect!! I was born in Antigua and raised on St. Croix so I always had someone to make goat water for me, but never did it myself until today. Very proud of myself. Thanks!!

Looking to make this sooon. Your recipe looks very good. Question for you. After watching a few other versions what is the added sugar meant to substitute? Is it the flavour or the browning process? I noticed you didn't add.

You can use sugar to make the browning instead of using the artificial one.

Flour water? It’s obviously simpler than making a roux and less fatty... but does it thicken it effectively? I’m curious of what an old Brown roux would do for flavor and thickness!!!

Yeah French, Vietnamese, Indian, American, African.... stews are all the same process.... building flavor!!!! Ingredients may change but the process is universal!
@listenup28822 жыл бұрын
Africa has numerous traditions and they're not all the same. Moroccan, stews wouldn't be exactly the same as Yoruba or Fante or xhosa stews or soups.
@johnosborne93232 жыл бұрын
@@listenup2882I’m sure there are numerous traditions in Africa … but making a stew is making a stew no matter where you are or what your using. Read what your commenting on to avoid sounding like a jerk correcting someone on a mistake they didn’t make. Making a stew is universal, protein, veggie, starch/carb, or any combination of the fore-mentioned parts cooked in a liquid over time! Didn’t say shit about traditions…

Actually really similar to Jamaica's Mannish Water. Just a few small differences: 🇯🇲's doesn't use browning, and they use every part of the goat (head, feet, intestines, etc) which really intensifies the goat flavor in the broth. Also really helps to pressure the goat.
