Come along on my first hike in Mount Rainier National Park!
Back in 2018, Mount Rainier wasn't even on my radar as a place to visit while we were living out our "Journey" around the western states. When we came upon it after leaving the North Cascades, I fell in love! I have enjoyed several more hikes in the park since then, but you know what they say...you never forget your first!
On this multi-part day hike, we spend the morning and early afternoon hiking up from White River campground, around Frozen Lake, out to the fire tower on Mount Fremont, then eventually over to the summit of upper and lower Burroughs Mountains. As I was packing up to leave the second summit, I realized a piece of gear was missing and had been left behind at the fire tower so I doubled back. When I made it back, it was gone and I was pretty upset so I ended up hiking back to camp the way I had come up, instead of finishing the loop.
After supper that night, Mindy and I headed up the way I would have come down, along the White River and eventually out towards Emmons Overlook before we got stopped by an EPIC sunset.
All in all, it was a great day of hiking and some absolutely fantastic views along the way!
Enjoy and thanks for watching!!
