A choice between a disfunctional Lakers team and being Lebron's scapegoat every time they lose, constantly blamed by LA fans and a shit ton of extra noise, vs playing for what seems a tight young team in the Mavs that just came off a finals run with Luka being an MVP caliber player and a star that other than complaining too much to the refs doesn't really have any drama and is easy to be around. A huge factor imo is the HAPPY factor, like you explored in your video. Underlying everything is being happy at a really core simple essential level. And Luka is a HAPPY person. It's contagious just watching him play separated by the distance from my sofa to my TV and the game I'm watching's geography - Luka is sunshine. Serious, amazing, skilled, and.. light as a feather!!! You see that reflected in the chill in Kyrie who just is drama-less and chill and excellent - that Very bearable lightness of being that Luka brings to those around him (even separated by 1000 miles and a tv screen), is priceless. Between countless instances of players talking about how easy it is to get along with Luka, and Kyrie's happiness since his transition when no one else gave him a chance, Klay will feel much more appreciated on the Mavericks than the Lakers. 3. Young, Talented Core - Dallas has many talented young players. Gives him a great shot at a championship while limiting the worry about being traded away due to age. 4. He probably felt some type of emotions trying to get back only to be cut short of what we wanted to, and staying there would probably only destroy him inside, so rather than staying he'd rather go to where the grass is greener and younger, so he can be himself again.

I'm so conflicted with this video in a way. I really appreciate the honor and respect given to klay tho . Its a hard thg for warriors fans the days. You're so on point when it comes to lebrone and the lakers. Man you really got those subtle nuisances on point... thgs could get sensitive. Nice job.😊

the Warriors messed up giving Poole and Green a lot of money and they wanted to recoup from that financial error with Klay.

I think Klay should’ve stayed with GS. He had a brotherhood with those guys. They should’ve hashed out the concerns in private. The truth is Klay should’ve put his ego aside and came off the bench. But I know it’s deeper than just this issue. As a new channel, I appreciate your content!

If Thompson was on the mavs last year, he'd have another ring. They just need him being a perimeter threat.

I actually believe he'll be much better in this Dallas defense as primary defense than people are thinking. Dallas runs a funnel system and klay will also have the energy for it. So people not realize how much this man has had to ruin to get the majority of his shots? That won't be the case in Dallas. He'll do 2 primary things. The first is post up in the corner and wait for the ball to find him. The second (at least they should run it) will be the 1/3 pnr... if they double off of that that leaves Klay with a top of the key open shot which he loves. Klay will have more energy on defense than he's had in years and that is being overlooked.

Why Klay Chose Luka instead of Lebron??? Because he's intelligent !! If you need me to explain more, then you are the one who's not intelligent....

I think one point people are missing is that a more stagnant offense might actually suit klay more at this point in his career. Itll save his legs. Him just being out there creates more space for kyrie and Luka. The ideal scenario is to stagger his minutes so that hes only ever on the floor with one of the other two at a time (for defensive reasons) and see how it goes. They literally have the second greatest shooter of all time coming in to fill a spot up role. Hes probably going to feast this season and average 15-20 / game.

Pre injury, Klay Thompson was one of the most confident, stone cold, unshakeable players in the league. My heart goes out to him, because you can see how badly he wants to prove he's still the same guy. After all of his struggles, and all the hard work he's put in, he of all people deserves a real chance at redemption.

I would say that Klay just wanted to settle into a situation where he didn't have to switch teams every year or two for the rest of his career. I also think that the Warriors needed to retool to stay competitive in the future, however I haven't seen any moves yet on their part to stay relevant. There are some fantastic teams coming on in the league and an aging big 3 wasn't going to get it anymore.

just came here to say Klay was looking great with the Mavs during the season opener. I got a good feeling that his addition to the roster will take them to the finals again this season. Luka and Kyrie are already a crazy one two combo, now with Klay on the perimeter for a kick out it's going to be even more deadly. plus having younger players in Luka and Lively gives Klay potential to thrive there long term if he can stay healthy and consistent with his shooting. either way, he made the right move

He might have the best year of his career percentage wise on the Mavs The open looks he’s going to get on the same floor as Luka, Ky and multiple real lob threats.. sheeeshhh
@YossGold5 ай бұрын
This is a fantastic piece. Not tying to make anyone's case, just adding the layers of context to tell the real story as it lies. I think that at this stage of Klay's career, he'll bring way more value behind Luka and Kyrie's gravity than he ever would trying to provide gravity to let Steph or LeBron work. Also the Mavericks organization is famous for making their players feel wanted (see, Kyrie Irving who got embraced and "nursed back" his confidence there when he was everyone's outcast, Dirk who was offered everything by everyone to leave and he never felt like he could). I think that's what Klay wants more than anything right now, to feel wanted. He'll get that in bucketloads in Dallas and all he needs to do to pay them back is his the open 3s Luka and Kyrie's gravity are going to provide (his stats hitting uncontested 3s hasn't dropped at all post injury). Now add to that 0% income tax in Texas vs the 13% in California AND not having to compete for minutes, shots and blame dumps with Bronny and higher chance to be competing for a ring and it's pretty easy to see why Dallas was chosen over the Lakers. As for the Warriors, I believe haven't recognized that they're not going to be able to squeeze any more rings out of what's left of Steph's prime. They re-signed Draymond (I think that was a huge mistake), who even when prime, was a wild card that could explode or implode when it matters the most and has shown time and again he values "me" over "team". They're ignoring how limited Kuminga is and actually think he's going to develop into a star. Who the hell knows where Wiggins is mentally these days and Steph can do a lot, but with their current roster, defenses are going to be able to throw way more focus his way (which they couldn't with prime Klay on the floor), so his numbers are going to start dropping. Tbh, I think that since they already gave baby Dray what he wanted, they should've resigned to the notion that this era is them riding out the trio that made them legends for another 2-3 years and given Klay the feeling they still want him, since they're not winning anything in the next 3 years with or without him. So yeah, I do understand why the Warriors didn't want to put too many years into a fading Klay, but since they're not getting any better during those years, I think they should've bit the bullet and rode it out. Would have closed out the dynasty trio with a better taste. Also if (hopefully when 😉) the Mavs end up winning next season, it'll sting them even more.
