I can not thank you enough for your videos. I have learned so much. I have worked with many animals but not with livestock(large Parrots, rabbits, dogs, cats, rats, chickens, and ducks). I am now retired and so I will have the time to work with the new babies. My family will be adopting two register does this Friday. They are both bottle fed . Their pen and shelter are completed and we will put in all the other items on Friday. I plan to keep them inside at night and outside in the pen during the day for about a week or two to help them adjust. I am raising goats as a passion of mine and to teach my granddaughter which is in the clover group this year in 4H. I want to teach her as much as I can and your videos always help a lot. Again thank you.

Vicki Burt I grew up on a farm so I know it hurts touched it myself a time or two but they did totally jump the wrong way into the fence not away from it. Oh well a hard lesson might save their bacon from a coyote one day.

Perhaps add some more poles to maintain the wire tension, making it less flexible . adding a wire from top, around each hot wire and down to the bottom wire will keep them from separating as well, maybe. You are well spoken, articulate and I appreciate the info. I can see you truly care for your animals. good job.

Goat Netting is GREAT! I have Premier1, the least expensive one, and it’s 4 yrs old. Very durable. A few breaks, just tie it back together. My goats can SEE the netting better than wire and it’s normally only 1 time of getting shocked. I’ve learned all my goat stuff from you, this is probably the only thing I differ with you on. ✌️Cynthia

Training goats, or any animal, to a physical impenetrable fence that has 2or 3 electric wires added is by far the best way to train.

In Germany we have special netting with different spacing for the squares and orange color. The professional version has fiberglass rods with two spikes. 50m 90cm high for around 60€. With the proper power fence 3 joule up you can build a fence up to 70km with little vegetation and up to 6km with dense vegetation. Voss Farming Germany By the way. Crystal, I am glad you regularly show this process. With my two goats & 18mos of experience + mobility/strength issues I am often frustrated by your ease of how you work your goats. I have to remind myself that you have 10years & over 10x as many goats to gain experience with. And along comes Venus. Thank you Venus for acting out the way my Stella does & giving me confidence I should be doing this. Chewys not much better. I gave up on bolusing for behaviour struggles and give Copper in PB more often as mine do seem to have fish tail. The milking stand/stantion helps a lot I had mine made almost perfectly for my issues. I will keep trying with the bolusing. Patience. Deep breath. PS. The temps have dropped here but I think Stella is going to hold out til they go back up to the 90's. Does Creed ya know.

Netting on one end to keep smaller critters in. 3 sides in double wire was great for weeks until they conspired... Now we have 3 hot strands as of two days ago. It's working part time. Just lost my security Cam wire to the doeling. Looked up to see goats racing in circles around the house. SMH. Gotta love it lol.

I've learned to train for hotwire by putting it inside a pen just to prevent them jumping forward. Usually I use a 20x16 ft pen, and put 4 strands of white wire up that's easy to see, and place it about 4 inches inside the pen on all sides. It works pretty good. When I put them in a fence later they rarely test it. It works for pigs and sometimes geese. LOL

Mine never stay in the hotwire by themselves rolled fence with hotwire only for my girls and its only the girls lol . They even figure out if the jump sideways threw the hotwire it doesn't hurt as bad. My goats are like raptors always testing the fence for weakness 😂

Nice video about the care and keeping of the herd. You’ve got some pretty babies there. It’s always hard to learn about the electric fencing. I have to tell you that the netting is fantastic though. We have really big Nubians and the netting holds up beautifully. I understand not wanting to spend the money on it, but it truly is far superior to just the wires. It is durable and my big girls have pushed it. It’s also been important for predator situations. God bless you.

Oh man what a rough go with the fence! Uhh! -- I have found it helpful to cut plastic shopping bags up into strips and tie them on the fence to make flags so there is a better visual boundary as well. We recently tried to move our goats into a paddock in the woods that was not electric and it went about the same as your guys' experience here lol

The difference would be that the netting provides more of a solid boundary. This makes it's less likely for them to jump as they see the whole netting instead of just a few wires.
