Hi, I hope you are having a good time! I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for the fragrance community. All of your work has been AAA class. The Ruh Gulab class, or for that matter, kinam or kyara. The crème de la crème of content creation. For what I feel, words are a useless expression , for now all I can do is pen this down. You have made people learn, for all I know, education is a very valuable thing, you have taught!. I think magic happens when knowledge that comes from the heart meets a passionate student. You have empowered people to know more! You are a book Dr. Nikhil, I am saying this not just for fragrances, but for all that you are passionate about. Thanks for your selfless service. I have personally learnt loads from you. Through you, I rediscovered my own passion of fragrances. All I can say is Thank You! Thanks for reading, Have a wonderful day!

This fragrance is very special to me. It reminds me of my grandmother, who died when I was 2 years old in 1988, but this scent remained on her wardrobe and clothes for years as I grew up (I don't know what fragrance she used, unfortunately). Encre Noire is often described as a "dark" fragrance, but to me it's uplifting and charming. It recreates the scent of a forest right after the rain, which I find quite soothing. It will always be in my collection 🖤

I really enjoy this perfume, I enjoy the sport version even more, it has a beautiful citrus now up top which to me makes it a more complete summer perfume. Great to see you back on this channel too!

I personally dont find Encre noir dark at all. To me this is an every day scent. Maybe not for hot summer days even though if you go light with the sprays you can easily wear it. I also smell a suede note that is not listed but I get it every single time. This has a beautiful airy scent trail. Beautiful beautiful fragrance. Nice video.

The most informative "content creator" in the "perfume influencer space". Dr Nikhil, you transcend all these terms, but this "video essay" format that is catching on nowdays that you have been using for so long is beautiful. I feel like a learned person is teaching us about different perfumes in a calm and patient manner. Guruji, can you tell us the story of Green Irish Tweed?

You're absolutely right in that it's very low on the ink and heavy on the vetiver, in a good way. I see that others may be shocked as to why you don't get the ink note, but no offense, I think that's because their olfactory palette perhaps is less experienced. The vetivers are blended in such a way that makes it smell "inky." To anyone experienced with the notes, it's very obviously a masterfully done vetiver bomb, while to others it may be nothing but an ink bottle. Edgar Allen Poe's signature scent. Masterpiece of a scent.
@EvWuzhere11 ай бұрын
Does that matter though? Even if you are mostly wearing a scent for you, you are likely in part wearing it because of how it comes off to others. I think theres an immense value in an "untrained" nose, to get an actual instinctual reaction from a fragrance as opposed to a trained nose.. Like the first time i smelled duc de vervins by houbigant, my first blind buy ever- i thought it just smelled like every magazine cologne ad i had ever smelled, and it smelled synthetic to my nose bc of that association. But now smelling it i can pick up the natural elements- deep oakmoss and the lavender and so on. But whos opinion do i trust more- the version of myself with a more knowledgeable pallete or the version who had an instinctual reaction without knowing any better? The last one. Its more truthful. Its more honest to have a guttural reaction to something-especially a sensory experience like a scent that is meant to be visceral and reactionary and experiential- as opposed to an articulated, refined reaction...

I found Encre Noire a bit bitter for my liking, but I own both Encre Noire Á L’Extreme and Encre Noire Sport, and I love them for cooler and hot weather, respectively. Á L’Exteme is denser, a bit sweeter and more ambery, while sport is lighter, brighter and more aquatic; everything I could ask for in a summer woody aromatic. I also have Guerlain Vetiver, and it’s an absolute masterpiece. Earthy, Vetiver, a fizzy and almost gunpowdery smelling drydown. It’s just too bad I can’t repurchase it for the price I paid for a tester bottle in 2020.

Guerlain offers a lot more. The problem with EN is the rather monotonous drydown.

How much of the element of soapiness is there in that scent? Does that make it easier to be worn in the summer? How does it perform on you.
@nikhilsfrags Жыл бұрын
Soapiness let's say about 20pc. Guerlain V is about 60 to 70. Performs very well. It is a proper summer scent. Because Vetiver oil has a a great cooling effect.

Nikhil Bhai, I have been noticing a trend of doctors using fancy fountain pens with fancy inks as well. How has this come about? Is this recent or was always the case with expensive doctors?
@nikhilsfrags Жыл бұрын
I am not an expensive doctor. So I cannot tell you how expensive inks smell like. But it was a compulsion in our school days. So the habit stuck. I think it's more to do with how you write. I write in strict cursive. And only a fine fountain pen can achieve that. But I use a normal ink pen now due to all the drama involved in filling and drying lol. But I know what you mean. I have seen it.
@Ashwekar Жыл бұрын
@@nikhilsfrags what I was trying to say is that this seems to be a common hobby among doctors. I too grew up writing with ink pens. After watching a lot of fountain pen KZbin I gave the hobby a half-hearted shot again. Quickly realised I just don't write enough to justify it. I can also see why this can seem like a natural hobby for doctors. But only recently have I started noticing it.

Your review of Encre Noire makes it sound as if though its a pretty basic, uninspired and "Safe" fragrance? Odd description, I feel Encre Noire is quite "Niche" and honestly doubt you can find any other fragrance quite like it. Interesting review tho.
@tanweermaniyar Жыл бұрын
Not better than Grey Vetiver by TF imho.
@PiggiHiggi Жыл бұрын
Way way better. Tf took inspiration from guerlain. While Chanel (sycomore) took inspiration from encre noire. The lalique was a totally new fragrance when it arrived & is still a masterpiece imho while grey vetiver although very wearable is merely nice but nothing special.
