Somehow the idea that GS assumes an alter ego in his armor as a coping mechanism is way more sad to me than the canon GS constant state of rage and regret. This GS can barely keep himself together emotionally Now that I think about it... I'm sad and going to hell that I laughed when his helmet went on.

The party wouldn't have existed without his obsession. The chosen hero who slew the demon lord was inspired by him and given advice back when she was young when he was hunting goblins. If he wasn't hunting goblins, they wouldn't have met, she wouldn't have gone on to do the things she did, and either the world would have ended or Goblins Slayer would have become Demon Slayer.

The guy at the beginning is “Burglar” who is wearing a goblin-Skin mask! He is a rhea who is basically an expy of Bilbo. In the original he even uses the same riddles as in The Hobbit. (In show where everyone is basically an expy sometimes it helps to know who they are based on.)

He's not really explained in the anime, you have to look in the light novels and the prequel manga. and he kinda did kidnap goblin slayer if you look in the prequel books. After goblin slyer's villiage was burned down Burglar found Goblin Slayer wandering around, saved him from a stray goblin, then drug him off into a cave high in the mountains to train him. The actual "consent" of these actions was not obvious, at least to me. And goblin slayer left Burgler when Burgler left for a while and Goblin slayer escaped. the first thing he did was join the guild, almost died in his first quest, and was healed by Priestess. The first time she used minor heal and by accident. Neither one of them realize this though.

Actually, the woman in his flashback is his older sister (even in canon we never see his parents), while the young girl is his childhood friend, officially known as "Cow Girl" because she works as a farmhand, which involves dealing with cows (technically, her name is "Ushikai Musume", written 牛飼娘, which literally translates to "Cow-Raising Girl")... and probably because she has HUGE breasts. From what I remember of Goblin Slayer's chronology, we're SUPPOSED to see Cow Girl in the next episode, but that's assuming that the Schmuck Squad didn't just kill her off (if her face being scribbled out like the dead older sister is any indication)... or maybe it's setting up for a running gag where Goblin Slayer acts like she's dead when she's most definitely not, and at best he might occasionally say something like "Sometimes, I can even hear her voice once again" while she's standing right in front of him.

Or they go the opposite super dark route where he still thinks she is alive and anything we see of her is just his fantasy. He subconsciously knows this which is why he never wants to go home and “see” her.

@@williamharmon4039 Yes, he says that despite having watched "it" happen from beginning to end he couldn't understand what she felt but that should any Goblins show up she could call for him and he would kill them, real or not. Dude might not have a smidge of charm, humor or charisma, but his brutal honesty and reliability makes up for it.

Dude got emotionally and mentally messed up by his trauma, he wasn't like that before.

@2:12 hes a rhea. Kinda like a halfling or a hobbt. He only keeps his helmet on in the shop because at that point his face wasnt revealed to Priestess yet. In the actual anime they switched the arcs around so that this arc takes place before the season finale but in the source material this arc takes place a little later. You should react to the actual GS anime. Its better than what some people give it credit for

@@Skillfulstone I actually enjoyed the controversy the first ep caused. they most likely switched it up because the farm raid mini arc has a more finale feel to it than the events of the water town arc and I agree. it was a good move and now with the movie covering vol 5 and season 2 being announced I assume they're gonna animate vol 3 and maybe 6 since 4 is mostly a collection of short stories one of which was already covered in season 1

heres a philosophical question if the goblin champion has more goblin kills then goblin slayer and goblin slayer kills said champion doesnt that mean he now gets credit for the champions kills too. As the cronicles of riddic say... "You keep what you kill."

Well if that's the case then I don't think he deserves the credit of the goblin champion kills. Of course, Goblin Slayer could easily best the Goblin champion slain foes but he would need to deal with it personally to make it count.

@arier In goblin slayer his mother if I remember right died long before the goblins happened. And while you know that the goblins killed everyone he cared about.......it's not even the half of it. You didn't think to ask.... How didn't he get killed by them. His older sister (the woman with the squibbles) hid him in a cubbord and the goblins didn't just kill her with him seeing it......they took her and a few other women from the village and they.......them......and then killed them all right before his eyes. Then they found him and tortured him cutting him up until he snapped and killed them and escaped if I recalled. And he got various other scars while learning how to kill them. The abridged has gotten some serious moments......but it's still VERY light-hearted compared to the real series

young Goblin Slayer is not Chibi slayer. Chibi Slayer is an actual character in the manga. He's also known as Gobslay-san. There are 3-4 panal strips in the manga that have Chibi Slayer. You should look them up. They are funny. Especially when Priestess and Chibi Slayer meet up with Chibi Maiden

I honestky think this is the worst episode yet, the first ones had a lot of charm, the exagerations where cool, the way they talked and the serious moment where bloodfreezing, but this one feels a little lame compared to that, true we have awesome moments like the argument with Sword Maiden, but the rest of the dialogue feels like they are just saying the first thing they came up with to make people laugh
