Thanks a lot for the info. I managed to replace the left joystick by myself guiding with your video but I was nervous. I had to be careful of not damaging the cables 'cause it wouldn't work later. But thanks again your video was very helpful 😇.

@2:46 I brought a kit to repair it but that 4 screw the gold one won’t come out 😞 did u use the same two different sizes to remove the screws
@GoCellPhoneRepair2 күн бұрын
The screwdriver that I used was Wera PH000. Some drivers are better than others but often it can be putting too much force into turning while the driver is not sufficiently seated that causes the screws to strip. A slight downward pressure helps and you should feel the tip of the driver sit firmly in place rather than spinning without moving the screw.

The 4th screw on the dotter board (top right) is like stuck, it won’t come out and I think I’ve exhausted the grooves in the screw to where it’s not even catching anymore… any alternative options? I’m so tempted to crash out and just pull up but that’ll likely break the board before I pry it open. I couldn’t remember what made me give up the first time but this was exactly it lol please let me know if there’s a solution

Will there be a video for the right stick as well? Oh and another question. Should you replace the thermal paste when removing the heat pipe?
@GoCellPhoneRepair6 ай бұрын
I will make a video for the right stick as soon as I get a chance. The heat pipe thermal paste isn't all that critical, but at the minimum, I'd make sure to re-spread it so that there is some coverage. You can add a bit if you have some on hand but you don't need to clean the surfaces like you would for a CPU/GPU.
@Philantronic6 ай бұрын
@@GoCellPhoneRepair Thanks you very much for answering my question. I just want to build in some gulikit halleffect sticks. In the video from gulikit there were some people how commented, that you should replace the thermal paste cause it may get brittle - but I don't have any thermalpaste and I am not an expert for such things.

We did this and it will not turn on now. I hope I can get some direction! My son is extremely upset 😭

Would it be possible to do it without removing the thermal shield and using plastic, non conductive tools as I don't have any thermal paste?
@GoCellPhoneRepair6 ай бұрын
It may be possible, though you would be working with the battery still connected which isn't the best idea. Alternatively, from what I've seen the thermal paste under the metal plate is not as critical as that which is further inside against the processor. Re-spreading some of the existing stuff is probably fine and they put plenty on to work with from the factory. Just don't get it dirty and you should be okay.

my joycon was moving in its place. for you, you just had to apply some screws. my screw holders or whatever were broken, both of them, so i had to use hotglue where the screws would have been. Is this ok? the switch is working just fine but im a bit scared of how long this will last. thanks,

This was a helpful video, but I won't lie, the sped up/incompleted ending was really annoying. I have no idea what I'm doing with electronics but I followed this and was able to complete the joystick replacement perfectly...and then right as the video ended, all my problems started. 🤣 Trying to get the back casing on made the battery plug shift a micrometer and that's all it took for me to lose battery power, and when I finally figured that out, the case won't seal correctly. There's a wedge along the right side that I cannot get straight, and I ain't opening this bitch back up. Helpful video though dude, thank you.
@GoCellPhoneRepair3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the input. It's a fine balance between making a detailed video and not getting penalized by the algorithm since views tend to drop off during the re-assembly section. If it helps, you can always slow the video down in settings.

Copied and pasted as a few people are having issues with this: Usually, it's a good idea to go through the process again while looking for any damaged or disconnected components. You can also try disconnecting the joystick(s) that you replaced and see if that changes anything.

@GoCellPhoneRepair I found the problem, when putting the switch back together, the white piece of plastic on the first thing we unplugged snapped off and when that happened, a small piece of circuitry snapped off with it
