God has really been speaking to me about Colossians 3:2-10. Setting your mind and heart on things above also includes the desire for a spouse. God has standards for us and he will always provide something at the standard or above it. (There will still be flaws, but they are seeking God to help make the change. They will be receptive to necessary change.) Don't settle for someone trying to "limbo" beneath the standard, find those who aim high!

Wow I really needed to hear this. Lately I have have been struggling with vanity. I focus way too much on the way I look, to the point where I have become resentful when I feel that I am not getting the attention I desire from men. I feel like I 'deserve' attention because I look good. I have been expecting my looks to get me a husband and have been frustrated when it hasn't. I'am comfortable in the clothes I wear even when it is 2xs my size and shorts because it is easy to get on and doing whatever needs to be done in the house and outside. I' not wearing no dress inside the house to do any chores or errands but I can wear Jeans but its not fun all the time. That will be the closest. Besides that for church I can but when you have kids it is not easy especially when you need comfortable clothing when chasing and carrying the baby and not having to adjust the blouse constantly or the dress. Until they get older thats when I go back to dressing nice.

Does anyone have advice on modesty? I've been told that I dress modestly by my parents and leaders, but I'm more focused on dressing in a way that people aren't led to sin or comparing themselves. I feel so violated by people my age. Recently a guy (who I no longer talk to) told me he loved when I wore jeans and he thought very sexual things about me in them. Some of my friends comment about my body and I wish I knew how to hide it. They even make comments when I wear flowy clothes and it causes so much shame. Its difficult with dress codes for the job I'm at because I have to wear what they've provided. I want to honor God but I dont even know where to start right now.

You can be all of that and still not get chased by anyone. Abraham didn't get his son for a long time. Was there something he was missing? He wasn't ready or "good enough" to be a good father? I don't think so. It was more of a test of patience and faithfulness. Your points are wise and useful but doesn't necessarily lead to getting a man and sometimes it's not because the woman is missing something. If marriage worked like this, aka you find someone when you are doing good in those areas, than a lot of people wouldnt be married right now.

Can you explain this a bit more? I know we are the Church (body of Christ) and we get to be ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. But is it wrong for a man to be Church minded? Can one be Church minded and also spirit filled? One of my friends has made the distinction between a "Christian boy" who goes to church on Sundays and has a Bible verse on his social media, and, a "Man of God" who truly walks with God and seeks Him above all else. Is that along the same lines?

yeah but i think there are a lot of women out there who have godly men without having done these steps before. And i was at your point too but it just wasn‘t working. Because i think the most important thing is to be authentic. And wearing no tide clothes or crop tops anymore just because i want to find a godly man didn’t feel right and authentic at all , like that wasn‘t me. I love wearing tide clothes or crop tops or sth else like this and i will never stop doing that. I believe in god and i pray everyday but i think that finding a guy who is like this too, has not got to do with the way you dress And also if we‘re all honest we know that the bible doesn‘t come from god. it comes from thousands of followers of Jesus Christ who all said sth different and wrote their opinions in a book. The Bible does come from God. It's how we learn to discern God's voice from our thoughts and Satan's voice. We cannot believe we are vessels for God's glory if we think the people who wrote the Bible were not vessels. They were the hand used to write the Bible, and God told them what to put. God is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and he speaks through his people. How can we listen to God and Jesus if we do not know their character from reading the Bible? We cannot create our own holy spirit that validates us when we want it to. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." If the Word was God, then the Bible is literally God's perfect word and comes from him. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be equipped thoroughly for every good work." Without the scripture, we are not equipped for good works or to do our calling. Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." God's word will tell us when we are wrong. It has been tested thousands of years and has proved to protect and uplift those who trust in God. Who are we to think our own ways will succeed when people have tried and failed on their own for thousands of years?
