This song is so deep and meaningful to me. Struggling as a single mother. There was time where I was beginning to try to be independent on my own and provide for my son. I've had some hard times and this song spoke to me as I cried to God telling him I tried. Begged , and borrowed money to keep a roof over us. I made it 💛 thank you Lana i love you ❤️ thank you God for never leaving me alone.

I remember listening to this song years ago. It was early 2020 and I was in a rough spot in life. I had driven to the very edge of the North Eastern US, nearly as far East as you can go in that area and I was just questioning alot of things. I sat there in the dead of winter staring at the sea and shivering. Thankfully things are much much better now but damn if hearing this again doesn't remind me of the way things were. In a way it is harrowing while in another comforting to know those times are behind me.

Damn. I don't think I've ever heard so much reverb sound so good on any other artist's voice. The production is very minimal as well, which is typical of Lana, especially on covers like "Chelsea Hotel" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" - but this just showcases the fact that she doesn't need lush instrumentation to create a deep and powerful song that invokes an array of feelings and emotions. Beautiful song by a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. I could listen to an entire album of a cappella tracks by her.

Yes l struggled keeping a roof over our heads bringing up two children. I went out gigging at nite earning money. And worked in the day. No one told you these things. But with all the heartache ive made it through thank you god for always being there.

LYRICS: Sometimes, I wake up in the morning To red, blue, and yellow skies It's so crazy, I could drink it like tequila sunrise Put on that Hotel California Dance around like I'm insane I feel free when I see no one And nobody knows my name God knows I lived, God knows I died God knows I begged Begged, borrowed, and cried God knows I loved, God knows I lied God knows I lost, God gave me life And God knows I tried God knows I tried, God knows I tried, God knows I tried Sometimes, I wake up in the morning To red, blue, and yellow lights On Monday they destroy me But by Friday I'm revived Put on that Hotel California Wear my blinders in the rain I've got nothing much to live for Ever since I found my fame God knows I lived, God knows I died God knows I loved, God knows I lied God knows I begged Begged, borrowed, and cried God knows I lost, God gave me life And God knows I tried God knows I tried, God knows I tried, God knows I tried So let there be light Let there be light Light up my life, light up my life Let there be light, let there be light Light up my life, light up my life And God knows I tried, God knows I tried God knows I tried, God knows I tried God knows I tried, God knows I tried God knows I tried, God knows I tried
