The thing I find funny is how most of the qte fails, don't even kill you, most of the time it hurts and then you get back up, like how when fighting that satyr with the spear of destiny, and he impales you multiple times if you fail, you just start the beginning of the fight again like, tis only a flesh wound. Unless you fall, moral of the story is gravity is the strongest enemy, even though he has survived similar falls before, it makes me think that maybe the game developers are actually just saying that instead of surviving the fall and having to climb up where ever you are going to, we will just restart you from the checkpoint, it would also be funny for if every time you died and restart it actually required Kratos waking up in the underworld and dragging himself out, I can imagine himself being like "This shit again" before cutting away the hands of death, new head cannon.

@cameronmatlock5210 True, he doesn't die instantly in GoW 3 though, only if you let Zeus move Kratos all the way back in the heart of Gaia, Kratos actually tanks the Blade of Olympus going into his side a couple times, shows that they are both on another level since most die from one strike of the Blade.

Ah that one where giant Kratos looks at the sword but since it's destroyed he gets killed by Zeus. I actually didn't include that because it's technically not a QTE fail if I recall. However looking back, I probably should have added that cutscene (as well as Kratos' family dying fail in the first game) just as an extra. Sorry about that bud.
