I don't get how none of them recognized each other's voice. Kratos has a very distinct voice and the Spartan that faced him was supposed to be his most loyal soldier, so I would think that Kratos would at least remember his voice. Were the gods/Sisters of Fate manipulating them?

Kratos was full of anger and the soldier was to determined to pass every obstacle he had in front to see the sisters, he wasn't thinking as well. Also one of the sister told Kratos they allowed him to see them, so if you think, they made them fight so the winner shall see the sisters, they manipulated the fight.
