This level is just unfair, I almost completed it but i rolled into the spikey wall when fighting the horse and i died. i threw my controller at the tv....

I have to admit, I remember seething at this part at first. then, I calmed down and simply replayed the entire game on a new save to prepare for this part. when I got back, they were still whooping my butt lololol, even with everything that I had learned. but, after a few tries, I finally did it! and this cemented this game as perhaps my favourite God of War alongside the original 2005 entry.

I love this type of challenge in video games. It never felt unfair, each failure leading up to my eventual victory showed me how much I had yet to learn. I rarely hear others praise the single player so highly as yourself. Would you mind enlightening me on what you feel Ascension did so well for you?

Good strategy with the Gorgons getting the third ready to kill before finishing the second leaving you with only one Gorgon when the Sirens spawned, hopefully I can pull this off. For anyone else you can roll quicker in all the GoW games by tapping square after rolling and then quickly rolling again.

I've had to turn the game off numerous times because of this level just to keep from smashing my controller into the TV and then throwing everything out the damn window.

This, the Sisters of Fate, and Pandora's Temple were by far the hardest parts in GoW

A worthy challenge for some, a nightmare for others. This was even more difficult than the multi Kratos mob at the end of the original God of War.

Exactly, its not only that its "hard" its more annoying than hard, even if you play super careful and block at the start with the Medusas and Sirens, they atleast have half unblockable moves. I felt like ripping the controller in 2 with my bare hands at the beggining.

Took me about a week to pass but I did it. Then a week after I platinum the game the patch was released. This is my proudest platinum yet. People post patch do not deserve the platinum.

@@ThaRawDeal Agree. I used to play Fort and Destiny a lot but only because there weren’t any other games to play at the time. Now I don’t even want to play those games. Especially destiny because of how they treat their players every update by nerfing them after doing all this hard work. I’m more into story driven games like God of War to be honest. Waiting on the next big story to Wow me.

Fingers crossed that whatever route they decide to go they succeed in provided us with a complete product on launch. Best case scenario they fully remake all games from the Greek pantheon but also include the original versions to preserve the legacy.

I agree with you but if you want to defeat the four witches without spending life and magic just discard a club, a sword or a shield to one of the witches and then use R1 to catch her and make her crawl.Then you will discover that the other witch is in a recovery position.Then press R1 again and repeat the same process until they are killed.I know that it takes time but it is easier, safer and you keep your magic for the second floor which is the hardest(in my point of view)

I'm here now, I always play on hard I love a good challenge I can say this is like the gow1 ares fight but harder because you can't heal yourself hitting the enemy I've died a thousand times but somehow deep inside I know there's something I'm not doing right For instance, I tried using hares hand to keep gorgon away while spamming the slowmo It actually works but I need to perfection it Also, sirens sometimes fall off the ledge when you're using hares magic I think they don't always die but is a cute window Another tip, keep in mind the only attack you CANNOT block from gorgons are " stoning " and constriction, stop evading the tail, you'll get hit. 90% of the time ppl dies just because of the tail, I've noticed Constriction seems annoying but it actually helps to recharge your secondary spells and it does almost nothing to your hp so you rwally don't need to always dodge it There's a lot more than you see in this game, I like that A lot of hidden tricks Another one Zeus magic can stagger 70% of big guys, the rest can probably be stagger with poseison strong Triangle🔼

You are right about there being many hidden and under utilized mechanics in this game. At least I didn't know about them until recently. Have you ever beaten Archimedes on Titan difficulty? Souls of the underworld (hades) works best on the sirens (witches) wrath of ares works best on the gorgons

No worries brother. I played this on launch night and got served a supreme beat down with a side of YOU THOUGHT. I went to bed defeated, but awoke with new resolve and a plan! I don't know what version of the game you're playing on, but this was recorded before the patch went live to reduce the difficulty of this encounter. I haven't struggled like this since fighting my way to The Loom Chamber.

Too many unblockable enemy attacks, really aggressive ai. This part is even harder than the Clotho gauntlets from gow II, surprisingly enough. No little enemies to throw and stun the real threats. No aoe parry stun.

Block and counter the gorgons at the start when stunned kratos will squeeze her and will stun and turn the other enemies into stone the first part is essential as that's where most of your health is likely to go. It took me around 16 times because I didn't time blocking the gorgons in time then taking a big chunk of my life. I did this on hard as well as I'm trying to get the platinum trophy I have three more trophies to get then I have completed the trophies!

When I figured it out it doesn't so hard as it seem. I start playing it from chapter 1 again and upgrade important weapon/skill and try to find the best combo for that stage and yes I beat the game 😊

Congratulations on conquering the challenge! 1st floor was by far the most difficult for me. This run was my first time beating the first floor and I was lucky to clear the 2nd and 3rd on my first attempt.

is this Xbox or PS3? It took me a looooong time to beat it on Normal, but the main difference I notice is had to fight 3 lightening witches every time. I do like your strategy and learned from it though... the way you beat them close and then kill them in an order than keeps the next from popping up until you're ready. I was slugging it out with 2 snakes and 3 witches at the same time. It was hard, but I did it eventually.

This was on Hard? it didn't look like anyone was attacking you at all... I couldn't get people to stay off me on Normal. Even the bull hammer dude... he literally came at me constantly. and the amazon girls... constantly throwing spears at me. If it was like this when I played, i think i could have done it much sooner.

I had defeated on Titan and the only way to succed is to follow my tip, which is posted above. And yes the begginning is very difficult because it takes a lot of time and every strategy is forgotten after you beat the first floor.

How hard was this section nerfed? I completed the game last night on hard, and this took me less than an hour to complete and like 2 attempts. I'm almost tempted to delete all the updates to see how hard was the original.

It’s very difficult. The gameplay is the worse from a GOW game, plus it feels like you do no damage whatsoever. I found the simplest enemies took so long to beat because their health bars were just massive. Never ended up completing this game in the end tho. Spend days on this challenge and just gave up. The only possible way I could do it is replaying the game on easy. But up to that point I had no fun or good memories from the game anyway. If the remaster rumours are true I hope they somehow change aspects of this game. Though I doubt cuz i heard the people at Santa Monica themselves hated this game.

Sup dude, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I can understand why the combat system initially turned people off, but after having played 2018 and Ragnarok I have developed an appreciation for how much was actually accomplished here. Utilizing the unique game mechanics is important if you desire to be efficient during combat. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your time playing, what changes would make the game more fun for you? I look at Ascension as a fan service project focused on multiplayer, that also provided a single player experience similar in scale to the handheld versions of GoW. Many of the criticism are valid, but this game was uniquely amazing for it's time. I think everyone on the development team should be proud of what they achieved here!

@ThaRawDeal GOW 2 Gow 1 & 3 are a tight race 1 because of the fun and the ps2 nostalgia. 3 for being pretty much the same mechanics and beautiful sett pieces and level designs As different as God of War ps4/5 is from the originals I can totally see the DNA from the og titles. Admittedly, Ascension grew on me but it's on the bottom of my list

I appreciate how each God of War game has a unique reason to be played. GoW4 surprised the hell out of me, and If Playing as Atreus wasn't required I would probably do more runs of Ragnarok. I'm actually excited to play the Ascension campaign again as I've only completed it once and then immediately got sucked into the Multiplayer.
