Gaia probably betrayed Kratos because she felt that the Titans were capable of winning the war themselves. She basically assisted Kratos against Poseidon and contributed to his defeat. And she possibly felt that the titans deserved the victory against Olympus more than Kratos did. In my opinion Gaia and the titans deserved revenge but Kratos did much for them and completely went out of his way to save them from banishment. Kratos could have simply set himself somewhere on Mount Olympus and take the Gods down one by one with the Blade of Olympus but chose to help Gaia because she resurrected him. Gaia’s betrayal was probably due to her being potentially blinded by rage. Cronos wronged his family, but Zeus betrayed her personally, just as Zeus betrayed Kratos. I guess that due to the supposed destruction of the Greece world and demise of its magic, she couldn’t foresee the outcome of her betrayal.
