Well today its common that the voice actor borrows their face to the character if the circumstances allow it. GoW isnt the only one, check Yakuza 0 voice actor behind the scenes and you find that most of them share their faces with ingame characters. Honestly i think its awesome, its more of an acting instead of VA.

It’s actually a really interesting shortcut to better expressiveness. See, when you mo-cap you can make a character’s face look like whoever and whatever, like Groot, but if you want to tell a story with significant facial expression, tracking the shadows and subtle movements of the face can become much more challenging to do realistically if the face is significantly different from the actor’s. So, if you make your final product match up with the actor, then you have a an advantage in that the movement of the facial features and their relationships to each other are the same. It also allows you to go back and double check your work to make sure things line up with real human motion and expression. It’s really cool!

I really enjoyed Ironwood. The Yak root finding etc dragged a little but I think it was a nice a change of pace from the prior section/s, and I loved learning more about the Giants, about Angrboda and I thought the aesthetic and visual feel of Ironwood was very well done. The Gryla section was moving, and let's not forget the 'birth' of Jormungandr...clever little play they by Santa Monica!
