Its amazing. So many games just do ‘this sounds cool’ but McCreary actually uses ideas that come up again and again throughout to represent different characters or themes, in a genius way only comparable to the best film soundtracks. Its sophisticated, more than anything.

@@hamidmehrdad5805 I don't respect the industry practice of crunch that has slipped under the radar for so many years. It really doesn't get said enough that to produce something as excellent and polished as this game there is a human cost involved. It is a cost in time, in mental well being, in abusive labour practices for everyone involved. The senior team here are all charming people, but there are plenty of hints here about just how hard they had to push their team to realise this vision.

@@Mrjmaxted0291 I know I hate crunch but I think respecting developers would be better because then they know their hard work paid off. I’m just tired of developers getting all this hate and death threats because of a certain part of a game or if a game isn’t amazing then they get hate. Not having respect isn’t going to do anything besides discouraging developers even more.

This is the only game I've ever played where I sat through the ending credits, reading every name, not trying to skip them. In the era of buggy releases and half-baked garbage live-service games, God of War truly shines as a reminder and beacon that video games can still be made with passion, they can be big, they can be of good quality AND have a ton of content, and they can still tell great stories. I'm looking forward to Ragnarok, but I want Santa Monica to take their time, do it right, and keep their sanity.

This God of War was the proof that a well crafted game, with the right time to develop and A GOOD STORY backed up by a good gameplay can sell super well even if it isn't an open world multiplayer online with craptons of microtransaction created in clutch timing 1 year after the other (as someone in the industry said). It's the testament that people still want a single player experience, if it's well crafted. Always be one pf my favorite game. This thinking should be applied also to other media like cinema. For as long as i can remember, my mum always said "you finished on that game yet?" "Turn it off, come downstairs" "Please pause that game." But then she popped her head in as Kratos was burning Faye. From then on she watched it like a film as I played it, occasionally asking questions, every now and then a "WOAAAH!" This was the first game she said "I really enjoyed watching you play that." She didn't live to see me play Ragnarök. But I really hope she'd enjoy it as much as she did the first one.

Sony and Santa Monica Studios always do a fantastic job on their documentaries on God Of War. I remember when playing the old God Of War games, they always show behind the scene footage of how the game is created. As someone who was always fascinated to how a game is developed, that was one of the many reason why I like God of War. Furthermore, I love the God of War series and love the direction that Santa Monica Studios have taken to get God of War onto another level. Getting an insight as to how Santa Monica Studios produce the game is incredible to watch and I am grateful that they have been able to share that with us. It makes them stand out so much compared to some of the game developers out there today and Santa Monica Studios absolutely deserve to get the recognition they are getting for this game.

"You will always be.. A monster" "I know" 1:31:50 I will never know why they didn't put that cut/version into the game. That would've put so much depth to Kratos. Like in all of his games, everything he has done and gone through, the only thing that is able to just crack his voice is knowing he will always be a monster. That voice crack from kratos means a suicidal depression to another person and you know that, you get a glimpse of how much he always has to push down.

I'm watching this as the newest game comes out, and I truly hope they do another documentary on the new one and the processes and things like that. This was so masterfully made and shot and edited and it was an experience to say the least. I'm new to the God of War games, but the story of Kratos becoming the father he never had and caring for his son like he needed to be is something that resonates with me deeply and gives me chills. Seeing the crowd react the way they did, hearing the journey the studio went on to create this game and the actors investing their whole into this, is revolutionary. I may have come late to the party, but I swear I'll be here for the rest of it. The story is immaculate, the game is absolutely beautiful, and I CANNOT wait to see the rest of the newest story with Kratos and Atreus

God of War 2018 is one of the best narrative driven games ever made. The fact that Santa Monica was able to completely reinvent God of War so successfully is nothing short of incredible.

Not sure if anyone at Santa Monica Studio will ever read this but if you do I want you to know at my 35 years of age I have played every major game title since the NES basically, but God Of War is easily the best game series around and GoW 2018 is the best game I have ever played. I just played through it after saving playing it until I had the PS5, and my god was it good. I am beyond hyped for God Of War Ragnarök I have never in my life been this excisted for a new game and I am a huge FInal Fantasy fan mind you. Thank god for your studio and may he bless you all!

I didn’t think I’d watch the whole thing but everyone in the documentary drew me in, the humanity that I got to experience while watching this made me cry and really show me as an artist myself how art that is world changing takes life from its creators. Thank you for your sacrifice and your courage to push through doubt and conflict. Because I’ve played your game for over 120 hours and I’ve loved living in your world that you all created.

I have been a gamer for over 20 years. God of War is my favourite game I have ever played. It is the closest thing to a perfect game that I have experienced. The old games were great but this is on another level. I cannot wait to play the future god of war games. Thank you Santa Monica.

@@paulsmith9192 That is one thing I admit I think could have been done better was if it did have a little bit more enemy variety. I never felt that the game felt isolated because of the conversations between kratos and his companions developing the characters and informing the player of some of the mysteries and lore of the world.
