In GoW he also destroys the nine worlds. They say Asgard because that's the most relevant part, but Mimir states that "from Surtur's power, the world can be born anew." We know the world is only reborn after all 9 Realms are destroyed, so Surtr must have destroyed all 9 realms, thus bringing forth the climax of Ragnarok and the subsequent rebirth.

In the bestiary, I wanna say it's in the Soul Eater's description in Atreus's journal, Andvari makes a mention that Surtr asked for Soul Eaters to be sent to Muspelheim. And he adds that he's terrified at what Surtr could want with them. We probably fought them already in the Muspelheim trials or we have yet to see some suped up badass Soul Eaters in the next game. Either way, Surtr sounds more cerebral than just some sword wielding thug.

It is said that Surtr is the most powerful being in all of the Yggdrasil. He fought both Thor and Odin during Ragnarök, and won, Thor escaped Asgard, while Odin was devoured by Fenrir. Then Surtr destroyed an entire realm, Asgard with his sword plunging into Asgard's core. I do kind of wish Surtr survived Ragnarök tho.

Surtr dies in one of the murals when thor and odin land perfect strikes right before they both die their deaths, when he finally lands his sword burns and breaks the nine realms, my guess is that early on thor and odin tag team until odin dies from garm and is then replaced by someone else (maybe kvasir or vidarr and valirr combined, def one of his other sons and brothers) and when thor dies to jormungandr he is replaced by freyr and he dies to surtr. Basically, one big mush of god tag teaming killes both surtr and the entire fukken world tree.

No. It's Atreus's story that has just begun. In the murals of Jotunheim that follow after the end of Kratos, the boy was shown accompanied by three wolves. Whether they be simply wolves or the Wolves known as Skol and Hati, and their father Hrodvitnir, we have yet to see how this Ragnraok will play out.

Kratos being surtr makes so much sense. When Atreus asks whether it’s the past or the future foreshadows the ending of the game where thor shows up to battle kratos. Kratos wins the first match but the second will be lost because Odin will be present as well but in the death of kratos, Atreus will usher Ragnarok.

Maz Kazu yes it is in marvel surtur is a fire demon who is destined to destroy Asgard and battle Odin for eternity even after Odin dies....Norse mythology surtr is a fire giant ...he is not destined to destroy Asgard cause the battle of ragnorok doesn't take place in asgard it will take place in a land in midgard he doesn't get killed by Odin and Thor he and the vanir god freyer(Freya brother) will kill each other in battle ......surtr and the sons of muspelheim will ride to battle when the heavens crack open from the beginning battle of ragnorok...while riding to battle surtr and his soldiers will destroy the bifrost due to their massive weight riding on top of it and surtr will leave behind him a trail and flame that cannot be put out.... during the battle of ragnorok he will end up swinging his flaming sword throwing flame around setting the world in flame killing gods and all but 2 humans who will find a place to hide from the flames ....surtr flame does eventually go out after the battle is over magni and modi are part of some of the survive and are now the new owners of Thor's hammer and when surtr flame go out this will be the beginning of new life cause ragnorok isn't the end of all 9 realms it is a cycle that will happen again destroying and creating new life from the ashes....other things that will happen during ragnorok is Thor and the world serpent end up killing each other....Odin and tyr will get eating by the great wolf fenrir.... And Loki and heimdall will kill each other in battle also after all odin may had did to prevent ragnorok........ ragnorok could've been avoided if Odin and the aesir gods didn't go throw with the bindings of Loki and fenrir

I always imagine this version of Surtr to be something like Durin's Bane(That's the Balrog from The Lord Of The Rings for you uncultured swine in the comments.) I can picture it in the next game already: Odin and/or Thor are in some important part in the progression of the story. Maybe they're fighting the player as Kratos or even Jormungandr, but either way, at some point, I imagine the sky becoming dark. The clouds start to turn black and glow with that eerie orange like fire. The battle momentarily stops when ash starts to fall, and then they hear it in the distance: *ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO* Just the arrival of Surtr is enough for everyone else to stop and question what's going to happen next. Idk, I'm just a nerd like that and my imagination has a thing for the grand and the dramatic.
