Good analysis. You could almost call Hopkins an alliterative poet. It became an important aspect of his poetry when he lived in Wales. Welsh poetry was alliterative. They had an entire system as to how to employ it which Hopkins studied and himself employed. It's the reason for some of the oddness in his poems.

Nice! I’d heard of his experiments with meter, but not alliteration.

Favorite poem, but I believe it is better understood biblically in that “the world” is the overarching subject throughout. …’the world’ will flameout before a new Jerusalem, …’the world’ gathers to greatness before the end. Reck his rod is better understood as wreck his rod, or wreck His world, because providentially we cannot. The Holy Ghost over this bent world broods with bright wings because the sun also rises.

Do you have a critique of her analysis? Would you rather she write out a lecture?

Sure, first thing, get to Bible Study, and get to church. Y'all need some churchin'. I suggest start with Psalm 23. Then get back to me.@@taylorflowers4598
