One of the hardest things about life on this side of eternity is the unexpected. Accidents or unforeseen circumstances can shake our faith and bring up the question of why bad things happen when we serve a good God. On this one-day Focus on the Family broadcast, Jonathan Pitts, shares that struggle. For just over fifteen years, he was married to his wife Wynter, who was the niece of Dr. Tony Evans. In July 2018, Wynter-quite suddenly-passed away. She was an author and up-and-coming speaker, ministering to tween and teen girls, and her death rocked the Christian community. But through that loss and the trials surrounding it, the unexplainable circumstances and heart-rending grief, Jonathan found hope and healing. Through this tough, but beautiful story, he encourages you to press into God and cling to your faith.

My Aunt lost her young husband to Covid-19. She’s a faithful believer, but she gets emotional about her tremendous loss. I passed this on to her, because I know it’ll help. Just hearing people who have had similar losses seems to be helpful. Knowing you’re not alone in your struggle and grief.

I lost my husband to cancer in 2019. He had a son and having a blended family was one of the hardest challenges in our marriage. Thankful to have found a Christian grief counsellor in my local community. It’s important to talk about your loss and pain for healing. Thank you Focus on the Family for having shows on widowhood.

I heard the words yesterday and wrote them on my phone but lost the information and you repeated them in the first video I watched of your today. If all you see is what you see, you will never see all there is to be seen. Thank you.

I lost my husband Jess last year to Covid, we had been happily married 26 years with 6 daughters and 10 grandkids. The Lord gave me a dream 2 years before that reassured me this was his plan, I didn't know that's what that dream meant till a few days after he passed, then I finally understood the dream, it gave me peace. I am grateful for my time, though I don't understand, I feel the Lord was with us the whole time. The Lord has brought a godly man into my life. We miss Jess more then words can say. I understand this episode completly.

Hello, Joyce. We were sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, Jess. We value your interest in our daily broadcast, and appreciate your letting us know that you were able to relate so personally to the content of our program. Thank you for sharing with us out of your own experience. Also, if you ever need a listening ear, please don’t hesitate to call and speak with one of our counselors (at no cost to you). Please don't compare the loss of your mother to his loss of his wife. It is not the same and never will be. My husband Jeff died at 34 years old, in May 2022. He took his life. My brain isn't ready for some of what was shared. I have roughly 4 people in my life currently, 2 that are consistent. That's it. I'm so alone and going through the motions. I am asking for prayer for my next husband. I don't want or feel as though I'm meant to be alone.

Thank you for sharing so openly, Jocie. We're very sorry to hear about the recent loss of your husband. Did you know that we have a staff of pastoral counselors available to offer reassurance, answer questions, and pray with you? If you think it would be helpful, we’d like to invite you to speak with one of them at your convenience. Just call 800-232-6459 between 6:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. (MT), Mon - Fri. The Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone will arrange for a pastoral counselor to call you back. There’s no cost for this -- we just want to come alongside you in any way we can. We hope you'll call us soon.
