My friend and I also sttended the visitor’s luncheon, where I was supposedly captured in the question and answer session with Lee Strobel, when the question was asked why I chose to become a christian & my answer was in the Fact that Jesus is the only person of the major spiritual leaders whose tomb is empty! btw, the food was most excellent! Thanks 1st Baptist Dallas 4 an amazing time! I also received a free book by Lee Strobel & he signed my copy! Brain cancer free since 2012! Sfter the complete removal of a benign twinkie sized brain cancer and 5 1/2 months in the hospital.

I also appreciate the fact that I can see the NewsBoys performance on my phone and it was a great performance although I attended the other worship service in the Modern Worship Center. btw, I performed the pier inspection on the New Campus where this performance was recorded. I’m currently medically disabled due to various medical issues. I’m currently living in an assisted living facility in Texas and will never work or drive again. Chuck Ray

Attended the service and wanted 2 get an autograph on my God’s Not Dead DVD, w/ the Newsboys in it and where the mean prophesdor dies in a hit and run in the movie. Chuck

This "performance" was absolutely sickening to me. Not against rock n roll. There was nothing of worship or praise in this "show".

@@carygriggs7 if it was a simple opinion difference, you would have a different spirit about your comment. Rather than saying you prefer traditional services or that’s a bit much for your personal taste, you instead have to use language of “sickening.” You say this as though you have a superiority about you and anyone who disagrees with you is inferior. You should be thankful this pastor is attempting to be relevant to people who don’t know Christ and is trying to have music that is uplifting to everyone. Maybe instead of criticizing everything you don’t like about an artist or a church, just be grateful that a transcendent God and the church still puts up with you.

@the voice it was sickening to me as I said, nothing superior in that. Why the personal attacks on me? I read an article from a music minister a few years ago warning of this very thing....more of a show.....just like the rock bands, a show. I found nothing resembling praise or worship. I follow Dallas First Baptist Choir and Dr. Jeffres. (Hope I spelled that right.) I have been in Southern Baptist Churches for 52 years. Of course FB Dallas is a SBC Church. I have never seen such as this in a SBC Church. Before you correct me, I said "I have not." To your point of reaching folks, while music is "a way" to reach folks....the preaching & one on one sharing are our main duty. I fear that we are seeing more of the world in the church and less of the church going into the world. Since you are full of "character" assassinations towards me. I'll let you have the last word or words.

Like lot of songs choir sings but it sounds more and more like you're at a rock concert. To much of worldly music in our churches now a days. You go to church to worship God not to be entertained.

I agree. This is the worst I've heard from FBC Dallas. This is/was not worship. It's a a show. I'm disappointed.

I would agree! Although I do think Newsboys is definitely a lot better than what could have happened. Newsboys solidly stands on evanglelism, which was the point of this service. I wish FBC Dallas didn't make such a huge deal about Newsboys though. There's the fog and stage lights, which I think is straying away from the theology of worship (focusing on the WHOLE congregation uplifting Christ in boldly singing theologically sound, humble songs). The Newsboys should be just singers with a song practically every Christian knows, not a celebrity level band that "deserves" the fog machine and elaborate intro. If Newsboys are to come on Sunday service, it should not act like a concert.

I read an article a few years ago written by a worship leader. He warned others not to fall into the "worldly" production of a show rather than that of worship. I have been a member of a Southern Baptist Church since I was 15. I admire what DFBC led by Pastor Robert is doing in evangelism and what Tyler and the whole music department is in the areas of evangelism and leading worship thru music & song. My wife and I visited several SBC churches and some Independents. All were adamant about each member of the praise team "getting their" solo on almost every song. At times we did not know when to sing or not.....that kind of defeats "leading worship" altogether. Tyler does a great job of ensuring the songs are to lead the congregation in worship.
