I keep believing but for a while on this journey and here and there I feel I might be crazy. This is the exact story I needed to hear. Everyone who hears never really explains how they tried dismissing it at first. I keep wanting to follow my instructions but sometimes think I'm off here and there but deep down feel like I'm right. "God spoke to me" And it must be tested by Yah's Torah. Beautiful story! I'd like some help on this question though: how can one be certain of God's voice? I often dismiss thoughts or voices in my head thinking it can't be God speaking, it's just my mind playing tricks. But I'm never 100% sure. I know that when the Holy Spirit speaks He speaks distinctly, and that if God has something to say to us He will make it known to us... but I think I struggle to hear His voice for fear it's just my own head. It kinda sounds stupid. But it's been bothering me for a while now and I want to be able to serve God and do His will. I try to listen but I don't hear. Please help?! I did go to my bible for answers and found this well-known verse in James 4.8: *Draw near to God and He will draw near to you* ...which I think is the key to hearing God. Without walking in step with the Lord theres no way we will hear Him clearly. By His side and in His presence there is clarity. However it doesn't fully answer my question!

I think you're right, it does take time and as we grow our relationship with Him and fill ourselves with His word, He will bless that and we'll be more familiar with His will. "He must increase, I must decrease". It's especially helpful that you mentioned serving God out of desire rather than to please Him. I often forget that He takes us as we are, not what we could be. Simple faith in Jesus is what we need sometimes!
